Hello Everyone. I'm new to the board. I've been looking for good forums for Photoshop and Illustrator because the Adobe forums seems very confusing to me. I like these threaded vBulletin type boards much better.
I'm fairly new to Graphic Design and I'm all self taught. Been doing some work personally for about a year now and I work now for a small family print shop where I help do some basic graphic design work. I work mainly with Illustrator and Photoshop and rarely use Corel Draw.
I'm hoping to find a lot of info here where I can learn more and maybe correct some techniques that I already have. Also I would love to contribute to give back to this community any way possible.

Thank You. Is this a good place to be for more info on Illustrator and Photoshop? Or does this site lean more to other programs?

ha, some of these stickies are pretty entertaining. Really artichokes? This oddly reminds me of those Montel Talk Shows where they show odd phobias. There was a woman that had a phobia of Jello and would just flip out. I know yours is not that extreme but funny either way.

my fear of arti... you know - those - isn't actually a phobia so much as a desire not to eat them. It's terribly unfair because I've never actually given them a chance, but I'm a grown up now and I don't have to eat any vegetables that frighten me. :D
Glad you enjoyed the stickies, I tried to make them as enjoyable a read as possible. ;)

I don't eat artichokes because they look far too difficult to prepare and I believe they are also very very expensive. Too much work for not too much food.
I have had a lifetime loathing of eggplant but I ate some on Monday at my parents house. Mum stewed it with chunks of pork belly. It wasn't bad at all.

I've never even tried cooking with a whole, fresh artichoke. I would cook with the marinated hearts, but I don't think my fiancé likes them either, so I haven't bothered.

I don't mind the marinated hearts I guess. I've seen them on antipasto platters.
Just had a look and the price of artichoke hearts is $50 per kg. Just to give you an idea, that is the same price I would pay for crayfish. Pretty pricey for a vegetable! I could get 50 avocados for 1kg of artichoke hearts.

1 can artichoke hearts, chopped.
1 cup mayonaise
1 cup parmesan cheese
Mix together in a small baking dish. Bake at 350ºF covered for 20 mins.
Uncover and broil 5 more minutes. Serve with melba toast, party rye, etc.
See, Morea, their little hearts are already cut out, so they can't hurt you! :D

Especially when you consider how much of that whole vegetable is inedible.

How much does a can of artichokes set you back over there garrick?
1 cup of mayo and 1 cup of cheese? 3 cups of ingredients sounds enough for 2 people for dinner, but geez, half a cup of mayo for dinner? Or is it only for snack kinda thing?

Those are the price for hearts. I think the fresh vegetable is a few dollars per head.

US$2-3 per 14-ounce can, packed in water.
The recipe is just an appetizer. I usually serve it with several other types of appetizers. This one always has the serving bowl licked clean...Oh, and I put crumbled bacon into it too.

I understand what you mean, kitty, but for the recipe I posted further up, water-packed is fine. And less expensive. I mean, you're smothering the things in mayo and parmesan...isn't that enough fat???
