made nearly 70 high res pdfs from quark files in a little over an hour. It produces them almost instantly, long gone are the days of amassing a pile of ps files for later distilling because the mac couldn't keep up.

preflighting them with an acrobat droplet - no problem either. literally minutes!

yes - work just invested in a new mac pro for myself and my 3 co-workers.

I am happy

oh yes. just wondering... if we all met up for a ginormous inter-continental gdf bbq (money no object, first class flights from all over the globe to a central location etc etc), do you think we'd all get on well? (you know, away from the relative anonymity of the board)

Well doctorfoz, I know of one thing we all have in common! ;)

Back to the mac discussion, I just found out that we'll be getting an Apple store in Louisiana, about 45 min. from where I live!!! I'm pretty excited (now if I just had the money for an iphone!

Congrats!

I think we would all get along, as long as the airlines/hotel/car rental places had horrid menus, invoices and crappy ads we could dicuss and rip-apart! :p

Dude, I think you just hijacked your own thread! ROFLMAO!

I'm glad you're happy with your new macPros, I love mine! The gdf bbq would start with talk about design, then we'd all start eating. The drinking would then begin in earnest, followed by talk of boobies and pancakes. It would end with a giant food fight.

With enough alcohol, anything's possible.

Can you picture a gathering of GDFers? How many people would be sitting in the room with laptops in hand and giggling and typing only to have everybod else click "refresh" as soon as they stopped?

foodkake?

That reminds me of that video clip where all these hot chicks are eating messy food. Only they're not eating it, just mashing into the general direction of their mouths and then rubbing it all over themselves. It's digusting and intriguing at the same time.

I wouldn't be wasting food like that.

I think I'll stick with my cider - I had a bad experience with Tequila a few years ago (note: never drink Tequila slammers after only consuming tomato soup - the results are not pretty).

Back to Tequila, one tequila, two taquila, three taquila, floor!!
That reminds me of two favorite quotes from Dorothy Parker:

• I like to have a martini,
Two at the very most.
After three I'm under the table,
after four I'm under my host.

• I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

I was working at McDonalds - 'twas the year of... oooh, about 1992 (which would have made me 23 at the time). They were running an 'tastes of Italy' promotion - which included a fairly bland tomato soup. I'd been working all day - a busy saturday - and only had time to eat some of the soup. Then a group of us went out straight after work. And went to my favourite pub. And had us some Tequila slammers. 3 of those later I rushed to the toilet and spewed a massive amount of liquid - vivid red in colour. Only it didn't go into the toilet bowl. It went pretty much everywhere else in the fairly small cubicle. Floor and walls. Some may even have made it onto the celing. I was not in a fit state to look too carefully. Then I had to make my way sheepishly to the bar and ask for a mop. (Did I mention that it was my favourite pub because there was a very gorgeous barmaid there? Well - it was her I had to ask).

I don't do slammers any more.

But I did carry on drinking!!

did you get anywhere with the barmaid?

My friend Gary did though (mutters curse under breath) on another occasion.

Never was much good with girls!

Nice. I'm going to be looking at a new computer this year to replace my first gen Intel iMac. I'm wavering between a new iMac with a PC rig for gaming or just going with a Mac Pro and installing Vista on it for gaming.

Right now, I think I'm leaning toward two computers. I really wish Apple would create a headless iMac that had a removable video card. The Mac Pro is kinda overkill for me with its dual Xeons and server RAM (bloody expensive).

LOL Foz. Remind me not to hand you a tequila slammer to celebrate your new computer, otherwise it may end up with tomato soup on it!

Wow Fozzie that is quite a story :D

Im sorry things didn't work out with the lovely Ursula ;)

As for the power of cheesecake.... it can't be explained one must experience the full glory of the power one on one .. its a very personal experience.

I will say its so powerful .. it's been known to generate it's own lens flare

LOL Foz, I'm just about the same age as you . . . we're both getting old at the same rate. I, too, refer to 1992 as "a few years ago" !! :p ;)
