Congrats on the new house Mynock http://koolsplace.com/images/woohoo.gif

Piss off with your ruddy hob nob flaunting! You big git! I have a tunnocks caramel wafer (that isn't really mine, it's my husband's, but I'm going to eat a wee bit anyway, I mean what's he going to do, punch me? well, I suppose he might a bit, but it'd be worth it)

I knew that'd get a rise out of you. Hob Nobs are amazing!

I was doing the shopping the other day and realised I'd not had a Hob Nob in over a year. So I bought pack to indulge myself.

A cup of Yorkshire Tea and 5 Hob Nobs later. You can forget about sex, there is no greater feeling on this earth!

Economy got you down? Just scale back your expenses, you wastrels.

Take me (please!). When Valentine's Day came around this year, as it always does, I could have done the big corporations a favor and bought my girlfriend a colorful bouquet with entrancing natural fragrances. But instead I saved mucho dinero by presenting her with a fistful of grass that I pulled out of the ground. Not only was my gift economical, it had the personal touch.

Feeling the burn, Hallmark?

I'm going to put off procrastinating right now. Nah, on second thought maybe I'll put off doing that until later. Instead, I'm going to get right on not doing anything.

I put my picture as big as I can on my web site, that way everyone sees how big the picture is and says, "Wow, what a big picture. This guy must be important. We need to hire him right away!"

I think when he meant "win win" he meant that he would win because he'd get a well designed website and he'd also win because he didn't have to pay for it.

What's he doin' to that poor dog?

Hoffin' it.

It is effecting me, well, the hubbie anyways. The recession talk has put him into "penny pinching miser" mode. He's already started following me around the house turning off lights. This morning I thought the coffee pot was broke only to find out he had unplugged it. "It has those red lights on it that cost money light up" he said. Pretty soon he'll shutting off my compu

We're always nice... except me. And maybe Kittie... she acts all nice and friendly, but really under it all - she's really two angry midgets at a keyboard with a eye for trouble.

So... Welcome

For the rest of the day I kept saying Bobalola in response to everything... or just randomly.

My future in-laws may be buying a condo soon and my fiancé has had such a hard on for the idea of buying their house. Yah! I am curious too!!!

Elderflower wine is easy. You just need a lemon, some white wine vinigar, a few heads of elderflower, lots of sugar and some old plastic soda bottles, something to strain the mixture in to the bottles with after it's sat in a large bucket for 24 hours and about 6 to 8 weeks depending on if you want it to be just fizzy or actually alcoholic. Yum.

My dad used to make wine at home. Damson was the only one that failed and was undrinkable.

There's a place here that sells "kits" to make your own wine/beer. I've made wine, too. You just can't use the same plastic jug to make the wine, because the beer is so strong that it can seep into the plastic.

It's pretty simple the way I do it. I think that Spug brews his own in a variety of flavours, but I don't know if his way of doing it is at all like mine.

Since, as I mentioned earlier, alcohol sales are government regulated here, the prices are ridiculously high. For example, a cheap box of wine at home was $12 for 4L. Here, the cheapest one you can find is $30 for the same amount, and it doesn't taste nearly as good. I was surprised at how much higher the cost of living is here than where I lived before. (A block of cheese that cost about $4 at home costs $10 here!)

First you need the kit:

http://i25.tinypic.com/otg0fr.jpg

Then you just choose the sort of beer you want to make, and buy that. You pour the beer mix into the bucket and stir in some little pre-packaged ingredients, let it sit for several days, and add ingredients occasionally. Beer is easier (less steps) than wine. The directions are very easy to follow, and the whole process is quite simple.

When you're ready to bottle it, you go to the store where you buy the supplies and borrow the equipment you need for bottling. You can buy bottles and caps at the store if you need them.

The beer is flat when you bottle it, you have to let it ferment in the bottles for about a week before you drink it. The first one I drank was nasty because I didn't wait long enough, but it actually turned out pretty well.

We bottled it in 20oz bottles and the single batch made about 24 bottles, if I remember right.

Apparently it's not as popular in the US as it is here because you can buy alcohol so much cheaper in the States.

Happy Friday kids!

I'm posting from Saturday evening and it's fixing to be a lovely weekend. We continued unpackig and movings stuff around the house today and then went for a swim at a beach I'd never been to only about 40 minutes away.

I only just noticed (with the beer pic posted above) that I've not had a single drop of booze this week. I guess having a virus might have had something to do with it, but I don't plan on staying dry all weekend! I don't actually feel sick, but a stiff neck and a fever and getting tired easily has stopped me from going out. Still a quiet beer or 2 at home can't hurt.

Our house is looking better every day as we find homes for all our stuff. How on earth we accumulated so much stuff is beyond me. I own more furniture than anyone I know (my age).

budafist
03-10-2008, 12:51 AM
I've not had it with mustard. Sounds good.

I had a few bloody marys last night. We had a huge bbq with loads and loads of food. There was only 6 of us and we had hamburgers, chicken drumsticks, lamb chops, pasta bake, mussels. I had 2 with tabasco and then 1 with wasabi, but I found that the wasabi just fell to the bottom and didn't mix. Apparently the trick is to use powdered wasabi.

Bloody Marys are great with bbq food. Maybe because we put tomato sauce on just about everything here. It's illegal not to have tomato sauce at a bbq in New Zealand.

Oh, by the way, when I say bbq, it means the same as grill in American-speak. What we call grill is what you call broil.
