I read an article about a lady who was stuck on the toliet for 2 years because she was afraid to get out of the batheroom. The boyfirend lived with here through the whole 2 years and said he provided her with clothes, food, and other neccesities. I still think he is at fault for not making a solid attempt at getting her out, or going to authorities earlier to try and help her. When they finally got to her, they couldn't pick her off the toliet seat so they had to unscrew it and bring her to the hospital, still attatched to the toliet seat. Now, she might have to go into a wheelchair because of a leg infection she developed. A very sad, interesting case. Your thoughts?

No real thoughts .. I read this the other day as well. The poor thing had mental issues that weren't dealt with. I will say I think Mr. boyfriend has a few mental issues as well. Now maybe they will both get the help they need.

I read about this also. I think she does have some mental issues and I'm not sure if the boyfriend does or not (I can't remember if I misread it).

A sad story though. Hopefully she's doing alright.

I think the boyfriend quite possibly has more mental issues than she does. Who lets their girlfriend stay on the toilet for two years without getting some help?

The newest story says the Sheriff is pushing to charge him with neglect. Doctors are saying he is just as mentally unstable as she is.

Bottom line is he doesn't need to be in jail .. he needs help just as much as she does.

Wouldn't someone else apart from her boyfriend realise that she was missing from the world?

I mean, if I disappeared from public for just 2 weeks people would notice. I guess she didn't have a job or any friends or family then?

People with mental issues tend to cut themselves off from everyone so it was probably not a concern to anyone that she wasn't around.

And no she didn't work and hadn't worked in quite some time from what I gather.

Kinda reminds me of the story about Genie the wild-child.

Genie (not Jeanie, Geanie, Jeannie or Geannie and, in any case, not her real name) is a modern-day "wild child" who, until discovery at the age of 13, had lived in a state of severe sensory and social deprivation. Strapped to a potty-chair in her home in Temple City, Los Angeles, California, Genie wasn't taught to speak, and was denied normal human interaction.

That was pretty sad. They didn't know if she was mentally disabled to start with or had become that way after years of neglect.

They had a follow up to this story on CNN today, I didn't notice it the other day, but they listed the sherriff's name as Mr. Whipple! I know the story is nothing to laugh at, but that's just too ironic!
