When creating a basic city map on say, a restaurant's to-go menu, I have difficulty finding an easy approach to insert interstate/highway/freeway symbols/glyphs into the map. I understand it is a dingbat of sorts, but what is the surefire solution to my issue. I primarily work on InDesign CS3 on a G5 at work, and I have found this to be an annoying problem that must have a simple solution. Any help?

Invest in a font called Carta, it contains all of those symbols. Beyond that, I'm not sure what kind of easy approach you're looking for, your post could be a bit more specific.

Actually, tZ, I think he's looking for the symbols that are available on Carta, the font contains all of the most common map symbols (highway indicators, etc.). We use it at work whenever we have directional maps to create.

Here's a partial character map:

Outlining the dingbat helps placing it on the map also

Beautiful. That's as simple as it gets. Sorry for the delayed response, but the appreciation is there. Sometimes the answers are easier than you think.
