That's not a glorified IMPACT is it?

It's a little similar to collos and highbus. I'm not finding anything else close lol ... I hate being stumped :p

Thanks Red Kittie Kat & Danger_Mouse :)
it seems like impact. But there's round shape on top of it.
maybe highbus is more likely :)
any other opinion ?

House Gothic Black Condensed is similar, but the M is wrong.

My guess is custom made based on Highbus (as stated before) or maybe ITC Machine.

I did quite a bit of research to find an Iron Man font, but couldn't find anything exactly like it. So, I created one. I'f you like to take a look, check out the Iron Hero font on my website. If you have any comments or suggestions I would appreciate it. Hope to hear from you.

Bet Marvel will love you for that. :D
It looks like a variant made from Machine too. Probably custom for the poster. Not all text you see in the world is a font. People do still draw you know. ;)

The vertical strokes are a little tall for machine, but it's definitely in the same vein. As far as Marvel goes, would be cool to hear from them about it.

Actually I'd be interested to see how a font C&D played out. From my understanding, the actual letter designs themselves aren't copyrightable, rather the TTF or font files themselves are considered copyrighted software that must be purchased and liscenced. There certainly are alot of knock off fonts out there, including blatent knock offs of the CocaCola font and Disney's signature font. Giants like these that are known for defending every inch of their terriritory apparently haven't made any moves, so either fonts are currently flying below corporate trademark lawyers' radar, or it's not a winnable case?
David, maybe you should send a letter to Marvel to alert them to your hero font so we can see how this thing unfolds. It'll be a fun experiment for all of us.

at least they didn't use copperplate. ;) does look like a version of impact, machine or compacta. i'm with pd, though, i think it's custom.
by the way -- and here's a disclaimer that i don't know all the details of this telling of the iron man tale -- but as an old-time comic book collector, and a long-time iron man fan, i have to say if they do this right that it'll be one of the better stories out there. it's not a story so much of a man in a suit chasing baddies, it's of an alcoholic self-centered filthy rich playboy who loses everything and has to claw his way back. at least, that's the way it was back in the old days. and he injured his heart in vietnam in the books...
one of the best issues, a story entitled "demon in a bottle," got some mainstream press (and i think won an award or two) for portraying this damaged guy at his bitter end, and finally beating it and trying to get sober. it was a storyline that wasn't done in comics in those days, and was pretty groundbreaking.
anyway, my .02. stan lee and the gang made some great characters and told some great stories. it's kind of sad to see hollywood run out places to go and digging through comics for true hero tales, but as a child of the comic book era i have to tell you that it makes me happy waiting to see which of my next childhood heroes will show up on the big screen. (wolverine is next, btw. i heard of a magneto spinoff as well...)

Thats my understand as well. There's some very good info on the web about fonts, typefaces and copyright. Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typeface#Legal_aspects) might be a good place to start if you'd like to learn more.

We went and saw Iron Man last night. I wasn't expecting anything at all, so I was pleasantly suprised.

Good to know Buda. I think the comic book hero movies have been running really hot and cold. The X-Men movies and the Spider man movies I thought were very good. But the Hulk, Ghost Rider, and Punnisher movies are some of the worst movies ever made. Maybe just because Spidy and the X-men were some of my favorite comics and cartoons as a kid.
The Iron man movie looks somewhat promising though.
I would put some cash down that we'll see a Captain America remake pretty soon. They made on I think in the 80's, but I'm guessing it'll be Cap's turn again soon.

The precentages are a huge improvement over the 70's, 80's and 90's
combined. As a comic book geek in the 21st century, I'm very excited.
The last 30 years have really been so bad for comic book movies.
I'm going to see Iron Man for sure eventually. I own a number of the 60's
TTA books featuring him, and 80% of the 300+ book original Marvel run.

I love the comic movies, but the only graphic noval movie that really hits home, for style, is Sin City. I think as a graphic noval it hits all the marks.

I agree with designstudio. The hulk, punisher and ghost rider are some of the worst movies i have ever seen. Hopefully the new Incredible Hulk movie with Edward Norton won't dissapoint. I love Norton's work in American History X and Fight Club, hopefully he plays the Hulk well.

Norton is going to be in a new hulk movie? I like Ed Norton alot too. Is it a sequal to the other terrible film, or a seperate retelling of the hulk story? If Norton is in it it should be pretty decent though.

im pretty sure its just a retelling of the crappy one. not 100% though.
