Not trying to trump your idyllic image,
I found this a few years back
I should of used it for St Pats.:D
Those are cool shots. I worked at a place where it was located on top of a large steep hill and the view was incredible. One summer there were so many storms followed by double rainbows, but the coolest is when we got to see a triple rainbow. I didn't even know it was possible.
When I was about 16, I walked right through the end of a rainbow once. That was cool. I just kept going back and forth through it and looking at the color of my shirt changing.

MikeHun, like the fact that the rainbow ends in a BeerStore - there is gold!!

It's soooo pure male utopian scenario,
I just wish there was a laundromat
and pizza joint beside it.

Awesome rainbow shots, Kittie...I love the doubles over the tree, and the sunset afterward was just as spectacular! Very cool. Mike, I like yours also, nice "pot o' gold" (beer) at the end! ;)

I've got a couple from yrs ago of doubles (they seem to happen relatively frequently here in Fl), but mine were not nearly as perfect as those.

I could have had a tens times better one the other day as we were right on the line of clouds as it was raining. It was the closest one I've ever had. It was raining on the road, but I don't think it was 50 yards off to the west.

TO PHOTOGRAPH A RAINBOW
Step 1 - take a picture of the sky.
Step 2 - get a prism.
Not this one:

THIS one (artist's rendition):
http://i30.tinypic.com/c23b5.gif
Step 3 - place prism on windowsill where sun can shine through it. (See how the first option would not work? I bet your windowsills aren't nearly that big.)
Step 4 - put down white posterboard or sheet as backdrop to easily remove background.
Step 5 - take a picture of the rainbow light blob.
Step 6 - photoshop rainbow light blob from photo into lovely pseudo-rainbow and superimpose over previous photo of sky.
Step 7 - display resulting "photograph" and modestly explain to awed viewers that it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

only if you promise to never use it again :D
...and if I do?
Not saying that I will, but I tend to get a little spunky with rules. But something about comic sans and rainbow colors....ooooh. I bet it would look good with sparkles too!:D

HEY! if I was a construction junky, a rainbow over the crest of where I lay my ass would be plenty to feel good about!
Actually, think of how good that would feel, after the formentioned affair, just BAM, rainbow in the face... I think I have a new inspiration act. lol
