Hey grfxboy - try this thread (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/default.aspx?f=8&m=52589&g=68500#m68500)and see if it helps answer your question at all!??! There is a link listed in there from PrintDriver and I know it saved me when I upgraded the office where I'm at!

Quark 4 should launch the classic enviroment when you click on it tho. Humm...I dunno about v4 but v5 does. Anyways...hope something in that thread helps you!!

Easy solution first.
Goto System Preferences>Classic>Hit start.
If it says there isn't a valid System Folder for OS9...
Do you have the Panther disks that came with machine? Sometimes people don't install the OS9 when loading Panther (don't know why). And maybe it didn't come with the Mac. When Jag first came out, they didn't include OS9 with the program. If you didn't have it, it cost you $99 to get an OS9.2.2 program disk from Apple. It still does and they still sell them.

I think that's what I used at work grfxboy (9.2.1) but I will check first thing in the morning to be sure okie. If you check that link PD gave in the thread I listed to you above it will tell you how you need to install OS9 on there. You have to do a clean install of the OS9 so it doesn't overwrite the OSX system folder.

I kow exactly what the problem is. You're using Quark. Switch to InDesign. Better program, better support.

uhh no, that's not the problem....lol

grfxboy - I checked this morning. When I installed OS9 on the computer here with OSX, I did a clean install with OS 9.2.1 and it's working fine - been about a month or so now I guess since I did it.

Our newest computers that came with Panther had no problems with classic tho. When I went to run a classic program on there it opened up classic and went to town. Wierd. But if that is the problem you are having you can use 9.2.1. Just remember to do the CLEAN Install or you will cry afterwards...LOL! Also again, that link listed above will walk you through what you need to do if you aren't sure.

Hope that helps some...

i remember reading somewhere that the MMD powermac g4s were the last mother boards to have the OS9 chipset on them... i didnt think os9 would work on any newer macs after that, but maybe i read that wrong... hmmm?

Yeah Silence..they were the last to allow Dual Boot...but all the newer Macs can still run Classic Apps. As long as you have the OS9 system folder on your computer you should be able to run the classic apps.

NO i sure cant. Im mostly looking for a Canon color imagerunner 3200
any of the ones that I download from Canon dont offer all of the options that our printer has.
