Hi,

I am totally new to Blog desiging but I know what I want to try and achieve. I have designed a layout using Photoshop CS3 to show exactly how I want the blog to look but the problem is I dont know what to do next to turn it into a template that can be used etc. I have got Dreamweaver CS3 on this laptop so I take it that I am meant to use that but I dont have any knowledge of either XHTML or CSS. Is there anything that anyone can suggest to get me started.

I have tried using Google to see if there is any next step involves in Blog design but all I seem to find are tutorials about designing the template using Photoshop and nothing else.

My currently blog site is with Blogger if that is needed at all?

Any help would be very grateful.

Thanks

Scott

Well, if your blog is on Blogger, good luck trying to get what you want without knowing css. Actually, good luck in general. There's nar a blogging engine I've seen that doesn't use css to format itself.

You should probably start off with the basics.

Hi scott,

To really benefit from your own custom blog designs, you need to know and understand HTML and CSS basics - at least. Neballer sent you to a great link - it is a good place to start.

You may also want to consider hiring a web designer to take your ps file/concept and implement it if you don't feel up to the task of learning. Visual designers and web designer/coders/developers work with each other like that all the time. :)

wooots! 10 points, I think that puts me at 12. :D

He most certainly does rock. I've seen him a couple of times, both of which have been insane shows.

My best advice would be to hire someone who does this type of work.

Best advice I can give you is to learn HTML & CSS through the link that was posted. But that will take a bit of time and probably a lot of fustration for your first site.

Everyone has to start somewhere.

Start with a Blogger template. Goodle "free blogger templates" untill you find what you need.

Then replace the graphics with your own. How to do this. Well, you will need to use Photoshop and either slice the image apart, or use the crop tool to crop and save off the images seperately.

Also anytime you are looking to do something search google with terms like "HOW TO create a blogger template" or "Blogger template TUTORIAL" - this will direct you to helpful sites specifically dealling with blogger.

ELSE if this is something for a client, or something on a time issue, please consider hiring a web programer to take the graphic apart and code it to work properly for your site.

Have you ever seen him with Praxis?

sickness! :)

I've seen him w/ Praxis twice...once was a crazy long long late night set ( a good 2-3 hrs) at a music festival, and the second time was an expensive ticket at the HOB in chicago - the set was less than 45 mins. Great show, but I was disapointed, for as much as I paid, I wanted more music!

(sorry didn't mean to hijack thread :P - music excites me!)
