Hi,

I wonder if it's possible to do this in Photoshop:

I have this b&w picture where I'd like the blacks to be blue and the whites to be green.
The grey areas would have a color between this blue and green..

I've tried quadtone etc. but this just mixes all the colors.

any ideas?

Thanks!

duo tone?
The other option would be to copy the b&w image create a new layer with a blue fill, add a mask and paste the b&w image into the mask.
Do the same for the green and then invert the mask.

duo tone also just blends the blue and green.
I'm new to photoshop so not quite sure how to follow your steps.. can you explain them a little bit..?
Thanks again

Open your b&w picture, press Ctrl+A, and then Crtl+C. Now go to Image top navigation bar, on the drop down menu click mode, select CYMK if the image is to be printed, select RGB if the image is to be used in a presentation or on the web.
Open the layers palette from 'Window' top navigation bar.
A. Click on the 6th icon from the bottom left of the layers palette, this creates a new layer. Use the paint bucket tool to fill this layer with a blue colour.
Go back to your layer palette and click on the 3rd icon from the bottom left to create the mask.
Now look to see if you have the channels palette behind the layers palette, if not go to 'window' top nav and open it, if behind layers palette, click the tab.
Now click on the blank channel, entitled mask. Press Ctrl+V.
You have now copied your b&w image into the mask, click anywhere below the mask to deactivate it, click layers.
Now rgo back to point A. and repeat with your green colour.

What you call a black and white, I call a grayscale.

Change a copy of the greyscale master to an RGB (not aboslutely necessary, but it's less complicated to explain).

Create a new 'Gradient Map' adjustment layer (layer palette).

Click on the gradient to edit it. Make sure there's no transparency gradient (top pointers both black).

Click the left bottom gradient tab and select your green, click the right tab and select your blue. Adjust however you want. Done. (For now-- it's completely re-editable).
