This is a new site I'm working on for an environmentally friendly car hire firm.
http://www.lab63.co.uk/earthcars/
I quite like where this design is heading but it looks like a Flash site and the finished site need be built in html/css which I reckon might be tricky.
I should explain that I'm a Flash designer with basic Dreamweaver skills.
Would this design be easy to knock up in html?

What about the huge image on the homepage? Would it need to be sliced up or could it be used as a background image?
Cheers
slicing it up would be better.
You mentioned you have a little bit of experience with dreamweaver so it shouldn't be too hard.
Separate out the individual elements, navigation, logo, main picture, etc in photoshop, you can even use image ready to cut out the individual elements, save them as a jpgs or gifs and even have imageready create the basic html file for you.
Take these into Dreamweaver and tidy them up from there.

Thanks Jam. Would you use layers or tables for this kind of job?

They have an HTML version already. Check it out. I have flash disabled so the HTML page is what I saw.

I think your talking about the USA company EarthCars. My client is UK based.
Layers or Tables is down to you - its been ages since I put something like this together so I would go old school, sticking with tables - simply because it's what I know best - the rest of the guys here would probably tell you to go CSS.

PLEASE don't do the SLICE and DICE - very amature looking and is not compliant with current standards - tables are for data only - like specifications of a product for example.
I really love the design of the site. This would be very easy to implement with HTML and CSS - you just need to MAKE the time to learn it, or simply hire a web designer w/ this knowledge to do it for you.... its not a beginners task though - may be a little tricky.
But honestly, if your doing web design, and you do not know how to implement CSS with HTML, your going to get left behind very quickly in the industry.
*:P i cannot resist this comment - you are still using a stock image for the logo! tsk tsk!

Thanks DesignVHL. I do need to learn it and this is a good opportunity. I normally work in Flash and After Effects and have little use for Dreamweaver. Thats my (poor) excuse anyway.
Regarding the logo.....client only wants to pay £150 so I want to avoid spending too much time on it if possible.

understandable. :) As long as the logo is only for their website and not used in print - like if they asked you for a vector, and they won't be getting it copyrighted, your OK...but if your client needs that logo for print purposes in vector, you've actually broken the image licensing from istock, or wherever you snagged that globe from...they or you would need to pay for the long term license I think. Just a friendly fyi. :)

I'd love to spend a day creating ideas for a logo.......but not for free!
Its for his website only.
