Hey guys,
I having a bit of an issue with a PSD that I am placing in AI, and then placing that subsequent AI file into ID.

The PSD is a scanned sketch on a white piece of paper, I want the bg colour of the sketch to match the page colour in the AI file. So I filled the bg of the PSD file with the CMYK value I want and then made a duplicate of the sketch and moved it's layer above the colour bg and set it to Multiply so that the white is replaced by the bg colour.

I then placed said PSD file into my AI file and it looks good, when I then place that AI file into ID I can see a faint line around the edge of the sketch where the bg colour is, and the bg colour in the file is off from the colour in ID.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Have you just tried placing the PSD file on top of the placed AI file in inDesign and then apply your transparency. I still think it's a little dangerous with all of that involved.

If it's just a background color, why not put the background color in InDesign and place your Illustrator and Photoshop artwork on top of that?

The problem is the detail around the sketch, and the sketch being on a white bg, I will post screen shots here.

InDesign should handle it the same way with a multiply transparency over the background ... Have you tried it? It shouldn't affect your quality at all.
