Sorry if I didn't post in the rights spot its my first time to these forums. My regular forums couldn't help me out much with this problem so I googled "graphic design forums" and this is the first link that came up.

Simply, I was wondering how I fix this gif image? It has a transparent background which is why its happening, but I need to keep the transparent background. Is there a way to fix this without getting rid of the transparent background?

what I did was I used GIMP to individually make all the backgrounds of the bmp's that make up the gif image as transparent. If there was an easier way id like to hear it

thanks in advance

I don't know anything about GIMP but you have all your layers showing at once... you have to turn off the previous layer before you turn on the next one with a new frame.

well I only used gimp to make the backgrounds transparent. After that I gathered up all the bmp's in the trial version of GIF Movie Gear, and I made a .gif animation with all the .bmp's.

How do I turn off the the previous layer in GIF Movie Gear? Or if their is a different program I could use to make a gif animation using the .bmp's that would turn off the previous layer?

thanks.

I've never used Movie Gear either. Hopefully someone will know more about those two programs and can help.

I've only used Image Ready, Animation shop and Fireworks to animate. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I tried to open in Photoshop, but I couldn't get it to load the individual frames. :(

You would have to open it in IR first .. lemme try brb ...

see .. each layer is on each new frame rather than one layer per frame

There's no more IR in CS3...It's incorporated into PS. And when I try to open it the "Image Sequence" option is greyed out. When I double click on the file it opens but it's flattened -- there's only one layer.:confused:

geez well I can't help there either .. I don't have CS3 :(

ok I dunno why that happened with Movie Gear.

I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop now. I still have all the bmp images, 15 pictures of his walking. But im completely new to ImageReady, how do Import 15 slides? If their is a guide to makeing a gif in IR somewhere just redirect me.

thanks.

ok i went to file - import - folder as frames and I imported all the frames in the slide. But they lost their transparency, they have a transparent background in the folder, but when I laod them in ImageReady they havea white background.

How can I add a transparent background to each frame using imageReady?

well .. you have a bit of work ahead of you. It's adding the white background because you are importing bmp images.

Unless someone comes a long with a quicker method the only thing I know of that you can do is bring them all into photoshop. Resave them in gif format then import them all into IR again.

As long as they are bmps you will have that white background.

I would be curious to know this too .. its so automatic to just click and flip into Image ready.. Why do they have to mess with what works :(

'k, partial answer here. It opens in FireWorks, I can see the frames, and the animation plays. Using QuickExport to Photoshop, it opens as a Smart Object, something I haven't studied yet.

*opens TFM to R*
