Hi there, please can someone help me figure out how to specify metallic areas of an image for print? What colour do I use if, say, a certain area of the artwork is to later be printed gold?
I really need some help!
Thanks muchly
Mikhail

You'll likely want to specify a spot color for overprint - what are you planning to do the gold with and what program are you using?

Best bet is to ask your printer.

Your gold (or PMS 872) must separate correctly on it's own plate for overprinting. As Semioticantics asked, what program are you using? What is your method so far? Have you already got an image that you now need to colour correctly?

I actually concede to PrintDriver's wisdom.

And just to make sure, you mean you mean you want the piece printed with gold ink, not a gold foil stamp?

Good point Garricks. Depending on what stock you print on, gold ink might not have the desired effect. That is, if you have gold foil in mind. Gold foil really makes a piece POP but can be pricey.
