Some time ago I designed this logo for class. Now that classes are over I've decided to revisit it and expand upon it for inclusion in my portfolio, but I'd like to get a bit more peer review before continuing on with it.

Please post the image. I can tell you right now people will NOT download the pdf document to view it.

It works large, but when reduced you'll loose all the text under it, and the column detail on the side.

What is it for?

As described in the pic, it's for a Crown Molding and Trim company.

I can't see enough detail in the pic to comment, can you post JUST the logo, please?

Much better! thanks. I like the font choice. But the thing behind the "K" looks more like a column than crown molding. Crown molding runs horizontally around a room, that is verical. Did you have any other versions of this?

As are present in my thumbnails (if you go to 'view image' on the big one above, you'll get a larger version), I played around with having ornamented horizontal rules.
Thank you very much for helping with your critique, by the way!

I like the concept, but I don't think the execution really works. Like Ckret said, at smaller sizes you start to lose your visual impact. Maybe consider just making the K with trim the logo, and use the full company name underneath?

I think the trim is supposed to be a cross section end view- but either way you're right it wouldn't be crown molding. Crown has a 45 degree angle on the inside corners so that it joins up with the wall and ceiling at an angle. That trim could be chair rail, or possibly base molding, though most base doesn't stick out that far on top since it would create a dust ledge and a break-point.
I think you probably need to start over on the trim piece. Make a decision what kind of trim you'll be representing (crown, chair rail, base mold, etc) and then do some research and make your drawing accurate and realisitic. Right now I think your trim is a little too round and curvy to represent an actual trim piece, especially at larger sizes. I think it's important to be accurate here since alot of this company's clients will likely be familiar with the product. It sounds like this is just for practice, but you might as well practice the whole process- which sometimes includes research.
