What a cool idea. Oxford Landing's South Australian Shiraz's new design has a tear-off tab so you can remember it for next time. Hope it catches on.

When you drink a wine that you like, you tear off the tab so you can pick it up at the store next time you go shopping. If the wine is any good, we're not exactly going to remember what vineyard/wine/year it was :D So remember to peel off the tab and put it into your purse after the first glass!

A bit of googling and I've found that Collotype Labels Australia owns the patent on this idea and also the trademark which they call Wine Find, having been registered in 2001. They print a huge volume of wine labels for many different companies so it seems likely why a lot of Australian winery's are using service from them.

So careful those designers that are looking to do the same idea.

Hmm, I've been looking about for the exact wording and definitions involved with the patent, but have been unsuccessful :(

However, this seems really close:

EDIT: Ah, wait, here it is

It seems really specific, and specific to wine and bottles at that, so be wary mostly when mussing about with those.

I really like the idea, but I wonder if a tag tied on a string around the neck of the bottle might be cooler & easier.

A little disc on the top of the bottle top could also work. Since you would peel off something sitting on the top naturally when you went to drink it.

Oxford Landing is actually a pretty good, affordable wine, too.

I used to buy it a lot when I was living in NY.

I like this idea... for those times when you can't wait...
