I'm at the end of my perverbial eRope!

I have CS2 and Macromedia Sudio8. Any of my bright and shiny (RGB) PShop web page designs turn to dull and washed out when opened in Fireworks to slice and optimize.

I can't get any deep, rich colors (blue is the worst) to come over from PhotoShop to Fireworks or Dreamweaver without totally killing the color. Tried almost everything including:

- Flattened JPGs opened in FW or DW
- PSD opened in FW
- Worked for hours with combinations of color preferences in PS and FW
- Even "Web Safe" colors in PS are faded in FW

I see all kinds of great site designs with deep rich blue tones... What am I missing?

I know nothing about Fireworks so this may not apply, but are both programs using the same color profile?

why not just use image ready to slice and optimize?

^agreed, you should just do the slicing with photoshop/imageready since that is where it was designed.

Check your color setup in DW and FW

Fireworks doesn't believe in colour management, and neither does the web (well, except Safari...).

You should probably select "don't colour manage" for your photoshop document. That's about the closest to FW behaviour. Or, you could just do your slicing in photoshop.

Hewligan's right. I would add that perhaps to get a more accurate preview of what's going to happen to most of your colors when it hits the web in most standard browsers (with the exception of Safari), work in the sRGB color space in Photoshop. That's the default color profile for the majority of web browsers (which ignore all other profiles).
