So I've been thinking of using a little of tax money to buy a digital camera and bring myself into the 21st century. (I have had a pentax k1000 for ages) and I stress the word "little". Anyhoo, I was looking to spend about $150. Can anyone recommend any cameras that would shoot good size images for this price?

Depends on what you mean by good size, but the answer is most of them. There doesn't tend to be a huge variation in resolution in any particular generation of cameras. What you really want to look for is image quality rather than size.

That's actually what I meant when I said "size" i was thinking about print quality. So any recommendations based on that?

i have a nikon point in shoot. terrible camera, you can only get a good shot if you use the flash. If you don't use the flash the photo won't be crisp, even if you have great lighting and a tripod.

Check out dcresource.com (http://www.dcresource.com/)
Its a great site with indepth reviews. Steves-Digicams is another one.
Canons make good cameras at lower price points.

i got one of these, because it had some manual controls. great little camera. i'm a terrible photog, but my wife can get some awesome shots with this. plus, it has an image stabilizer. it's last year's model.

Agreed on the Canons. My wife wanted something simpler and more portable than my big clunky Fuji so I got her a Canon A430 for Christmas a couple years ago. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and it seemed to offer the best quality in the $150 range. We've been really happy with it. I'd imagine they're on the A450 or 60 by now if they still make an A4xx line.
