Hi! I am shopping for a new inkjet printer to use at work to print film for screenprinting. We only need to print black all day - our other printer is an Epson Pro 4000 but it takes these giant ink cartridges (8 of them - $109 a piece! Expensive for printing only 1 color)
For a while we also had an Epson Stylus 1520 - but that one started working only occasionally and we have since retired it.
I'd prefer a printer that i can just run across the street to Office Max to buy ink instead of have to go to the fancy camera store.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

People use inkjets for film?
I was under the impression that you needed toner for the film. Wouldn't it be cheaper just to get a cheap but strong laser black and white printer/photocopier?

From what i understand, laser printers shrink the film and can mess up the registration.

As you were then. I've never done screen printing before.

Does anyone on this site do screenprinting or print film for anything?

I make film all day at our print shop but we have a Agfa Selectset image setter and go to real film. At home i have a epson 2200 and I have found certain types of clear paper it should fit print. It is label for my epson i just never had an occasion to use it. I thin the company is called inkjet art. I still would use it for screenprinting as i dont think the toner would like being lit really hot. We charge like 10 bucks for a film transparencies and it works so much better for burning screens that what we did off a copier or inkjet. That stuff will smudge and you will loose defintion in the tight lights not to mention the chance of uneven coating.
