I created this logo for an international technology/software solution company. I couldn't use a brain as a symbol so I used the globe-lightbulb concept. Let me know what you think.

Holy gradient, Batman! How does it look in 1 solid color? Not really feeling the type. Cool concept though

I'm with Crket, I'd really like to see how that works as a one color piece.

I am resisting the urge to post umpteen stock photography images of globe lightbulb illustrations.

I see you are based in Utah, is the company American? If so then it seems peculiar to have the european/african side of the globe illustrated.

It also seems a little anti technology to have a font that feels more suited to the early part of the 20th century.

Yea feels very art deco of the 1920's, back in the days when sliced bread didnt even exist! IMAGINE!
Maybe try a techy cut corners n circuit board looking thing type font deal.

Here's a somewhat simplified logo that I tried out. Y'all are right the font needs more work, thanks. Oh, and it is a mainly european based organization, that's why I used that hemisphere. Thanks for all of your feedback. :)

nope, that image has grays in it. I am talking 100% black and 100% white ONLY. Something that one would used to cut out a vinyl sticker with. It's gotta have 0 gradients.

Definition is lost when transfered to black and white. Furthermore, the imagery is not well integrated into the typography. The gradients hold little communicative value – thus, they should be removed. Also, the illustration could be handled much more delicately. Currently, the raged illustration could directly translate to ragged and choppy business principles and practices – not a positive connotation.

You have to look at the bottom of your lightbulb as yours wouldn't spin into any socket. Unless it's a brainy no spin push in lightbulb.

It goes into a magical socket – duh!

A socket suited only for brainy technology.

sheesh… everyone knows that

I guess I'm not brainy enough, thanks for letting the less brainy in on that tZ.

I always appreciate it when companies make things with proprietary connectors.

Everyone has already said what pretty much needs to be said. Logos should be created as 100% vector art. Gradients shouldn't be used as a general rule of thumb. Keep in mind how the logo would look at a smaller size. it certainly won't always appear large as you've shown it in your post.

For logo inspiration, check out Logopond (http://logopond.com/gallery/) and Logo Lounge (http://www.logolounge.com/articles/default.asp?ArticleID=540).

Also, start with sketches. Pencil and paper. Don't touch the computer until you have sketched out at least dozens (if not a 100 or so) sketches. If you can, post sketches first and get feedback. Then take it to the computer.

the gradient background with gradient text doesnt do it for me. i would get rid of the gradient back ground. also could you make the edges of the "world map" softer and not so jagged.. looks like they were auto traced
