Ridiculous question!

I'm sure some of you will be thinking, what a "*%$#@!" Fill in your favorite word!
But here goes anyway. My hardcase portfolio has gotten permanently locked. It is a 3 number combo and to the best of my recollection I never set the combo or ever needed to. Well, it has been in storage and now will not open. There is no brand name on it and I have searched all over the internet for this case thinking I could call the company to see if there is a master combo. I've also tried every 3 number combo I can think of. I've also tried to slip something in there to lift the lock with no luck, plus I don't want to destroy it.

Has this EVER happened to anyone?:o

You could start with 0,0,0 then 0,0,1 and so on till you hit it. Hope it isn't 9,9,9 LOL.

There are only 1000 possible combinations to a three digit lock using the numerals 0-9. I know that sounds like alot, but you could probably work through it in a few hours. So I'd take Kool's advice if you want to open it and be sure not to damage the lock. Just be sure to keep track of which numbers you've tried. Good luck.

Why not? 5 numbers is only 100,000 combinations. If you check them at an average rate of ten seconds per try, it should only take you about 11 and a half days of straight checking to go through them all. Now factor in breaks for food and bathroom (none for sleep assuming you're a big coffee drinker) and you should be able to get through that list in under two weeks!

Seriously though, going through 1000 combos, while not fun, is doable. The only things that would suck is if you lost track or skipped a number or didn't quite fully roll the combo number right while you tried a number. Because if that was the combo you'd have to start over.

To play it safe next time I'd buy one of those fake rocks to hide keys under, attach it to the bottom side of the portfolio case and store your combo in there.

Since you didn't reset it from the factory, I'd try the obvious, 000, 123, 456, 789, 111,222,333, 444 etc. first.
