Just thought you'd be interested in this story (http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/04/photoshop_lr_64.html). Adobe is planning on releasing Photoshop CS4 in a 64-bit version for Windows only.

So what does that mean? Most programs today cannot use more than 4gigs of RAM. Even the most high-end games don't require more than that. I could take my current 32-bit Windows machine and add 10gigs of RAM, but no program could utilize all of it. The program has to be created to use the full extent of the RAM.

With a 64-bit system (that implies hardware and software are 64-bit), a program can utilize more RAM, making the applications run faster. Adobe reports that it creates an 8-12% speed increase. Not a lot, but it would make things such as filters or multiple layers move much faster. I'd imagine all of the creative suite applications would also be converted.

Check out the article and share your thoughts.

it's a drag that the Mac x64 revision will take longer to deliver.
