Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : InDesign - shades lighten in exported PDF?
Hi - bit of a novice question here, but when creating PDFs in InDesign, all shades in images (color space in grayscale) seem to automatically pale / lighten compared to what was on the screen in InDesign. I presume this might be a printing compensation thing...? I've checked the settings for "Apperance of Black" under Preferences, though, and it's set to output rich black. Also tried variations of Press Quality / High Quality Print etc... nothing's worked so far.
Hopefully the issue will be really obvious to everyone... but how do I fix this? Being driven to frustration here...
Thanks!

Check to make sure OVerprint Preview is turned off in Acrobat.

Check to make sure OVerprint Preview is turned off in Acrobat. In my opinion it's a better idea to run with Overprint Preview on in
Acrobat, and then turn it on in InDesign to check your final layout
before exporting. Resources allowing, of course. Having Overprint
Preview turned on in Acrobat will give you a better idea of what a piece
will actually print like, especially in a Postscript environment.

I was under the impression Asha is trying to figure out why PDf file looks different than Indesign file.
Checking overprint is just first step to make sure file is match in color. Toggle it on and off as neccessary, to preview overprint areas.

Is there a Dot Gain setting applied when it's exported to PDF?
