I have a company logo that is saved as an .ai file in Illustrator. I need a transparent file of this logo to place on a gray border. So, I exported the .ai file as a TIF, and then set the image as transparent Microsoft Photo Editor and saved this as a GIF.

Although it says the image is 300 dpi, it comes out looking pixellated and fuzzy on my brochure.

Do you know a better way to export an .ai file into a GIF where the image doesn't come out looking this way?

Thanks.

Use Illustrator's save for Web feature. Set your pixel size to exactly the size you need it and you're good to go.

Oh wait, you're needing transparent in print? What program are you using to print from. Basically, what program are you trying to put the logo on a gray border in?

Microsoft Photo Editor ... shudder.

Publisher

I know Publisher is awful as well, but I'm just a beginner learning InDesign and am making updates to an old file created 2 years back in Publisher.

Does Publisher not support .eps files? If they do, save your Illustrator file out of Illustrator as an .eps

EPS files maintain their transparency and won't have a bounding box.

But, I would definitely polish up on InDesign as quick as possible. You'll be happier and so will your print vendors.

Believe me, I know. And I do use InDesign now, this is just an old file, and I don't have time to convert the document.

It looks like Publisher does support .eps files, just tried it. It looks awful though. Ugh, hate this program. Thanks for your help.
