Hello to everyone, i have an old monogram that i made some time ago, and i haven't used it very much, but i liked the concept and sice i don't have a logo i wanted to try making one out of it.
Here's the idea, i wanted the logo to look like a shield or a piece of armor that is made of or has the initials of my full name (Fernando Martín Lema Acosta).
The idea behind the piece of armor is that it reflects more or less the kind of person i think i am (loyal, obliging and a bit shy)
I also like the medieval age and heraldic (although i tried some heraldic ones i didn't relate to them) so the armor thing comes again.
There's also some griffins in the sketches which symbolize alertness and judicious reflection, avoiding the flatterers also symbolizes ferocity.
There's also the fact that Fernando means bold warrior.
Finally i found a text that explained the significance of a silver helmet in heraldic and i relate to some of the concepts (integrity, obedience, firmness, alertness, eloquence).
These are the sketches i made, i would like to hear your thoughts about them and which one you think it has more potential.

It probably was showing up because it was in your cache somewhere. The new one works.
The sketches look good. The only concern I have right now is that a couple (mainly #2 and #7) of them look like they might be a bit to complex for a logo when you shrink them down to smaller sizes. Of course, they look like they could be pretty easily simplified so, it's not really that big of a deal.

I have to agree with Double A, there, that some of that detail will be lost, but I think you are on to something nice here, keeep working it. Also I like your sketch style.

Fernando, I really like this concept and your reasoning behind it. The sketches all look good, though I think most a little too comlex to function well as a logo.
Personaly I think these sketches bring to mind a menacing villianous midievil knight, rather than the heroic knight I'm sure you want to portray. This could just be me, but it might be worth checking with others before you finalize one of these versions.

Thanks for all your thoughts
Regarding the complexity of some of the sketches, i had that in mind, but i made them anyway, i coudn't resist it.
And "DesignStudio", i didn't notice what you mention until now, i'll try to improve them having your thought in mind, thanks for the reference by the way.
If you fell that there's one in particular that steps up please let me know.

Now, I can't speak for the OP, but all I'd do is scan the sketch, place the scanned image in Illustrator and then use the pen tool to trace over it.

You have an enviable sketch style - wish mine looked that 'cool'! :)
You do have nice concepts and I agree with the other posters...
I liked 4, 6 and 8 - perhaps b/c they were more simple. I definitely like the overall shape of 4!

Actually the sketches were made with a graphic tablet in photoshop, but the idea is the same double A comments, use illustrator to make a vector image (the pen tool mostly, i'm not a fan of tracing)

Two of the bad guy knight helmets that designstudio posted are almost identical to the helmets that were worn by Russell Crowe in Gladiator and Brad Pitt in Troy. To me Maximus Decimus Meridius and Achilles are heroic figures and don't represent villians and I personally like the looks of those helmets. Just my opinion though.

I like the ones that are less literal representations of helmets. 12-15 are a little too literal for me. I like #8, though it's a little ... cartoony? But, I do think it, or something equally ambiguous (less 3-D), would be more versatile for you.

Microswede, thanks for your comment, i have to say that most times i go for literal representations, since i like realism (that might explain why i tend to use 3-d), but i understand your opinion and the versatility you speak of, so i'll try some and see what happens.
A quick update with some other sketches.

Those ones on the right are more like ancient greek/trojan/spartan helmets.
