Ok I'm back with a ton.

The Forgotten

http://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2004/DEFGH/Forgotten/images/main-page.jpg

I love myself a good spooky thriller and this fits the bill. It's not what I thought and that's a good thing. Julianne Moore play Telly, who had just lost her child Sam in a plane crash. She's seeing a shrik played by the great Gary Sinsise. As time goes on it seems that everyone is forgetting about Sam, to the point where her shirk and her husband think she made him up. but it goes much further as things of Sam's starts to be erased. She eventually meets up with the parent of a friend of Sam, Ash. But he too doesn't remember Sam or his own daughter. Enter the NSA and this is where the intrique starts. Ash eventually remembers and him and Telly on on the lam to find out what is really going on here, which I won't tell you cause it's surprising and good to boot.

Julianne Moore has really come into her own, she totally carries this movie and you bleive in her plight. there is a ton of 'what is going on here' moments and wel as a few surprsing 'jumpers'. This was a pleasant surpsrise of a movie that delivers on the trailer. It's got a sort of a twist ending that doesn't leave you hanging. it's leaves some questions about possibilities, but it full fills the movie being told.

Cool poop!

Mr. 3000

If your a fan of comedy sports movies, then this is just another to chalk up. not that it is bad. It doesn't pretent to be somthing it's not and it entertains. Bernie Mac plays a sort of a Barry Bonds type of player, stan ross. Ross is out for himself. not really a team player and after he hits #3000 he retires despite the Brewers being in the race for a playoff spot. Fast forward to now, Stan is the owner of the 3000 shopping plaza. Still the happy go lucky jerk he was in the majors. when it comes time for Stan to get elected in the Hall of Fame, the commicssion finds a glitch in his record that leaves him with 2997 hits. so now stan's world comes crashing down.

so what does a man do? Well he attempts to get the 3 hits.

At 47 Stan joins the Brewers again, after a riot of a workout scene, had me in stiches. But beyond the fact he is 47 there are a few changes in baseball, remember the Brewers switched to the national League and now Stan has to play the field, also the playres have changed. Stan is not welcomed of course and has to prove his way. you can all guess where it goes to from here, we all know Stan learns to be a team player and teaches the youngsters how to have fun and how to play the game old school way.

Bernie is a funny guy, he is perfect in these roles where the character is quick to talk. He is beleiveable as Stan and you do root for him in the end. Very entertaining and funny.

Cool poop!

On DVD (for Kool)

Mean Girls

http://www.thezreview.co.uk/posters/posterimages/meangirls.jpg

my wife is a huge fan of thse teenage movies. she loves them all. this one is no different from the others. Fish out of water story.

Huge boobs (Lindsey Lohan) plays Cady who all her life has lived in Africa. so she has zero social skill in a school setting. she has no idea of the cliques that form and also of the lingo. She befriends an outcast Janis and her gay freind Damian and soon she learns the way of high school. After she falls in with the Plastics, those chicks in high school that were dumbs as stumps but hot as can be, her an Janis come up with a plan to take them down. but it backfires as Cady gets so sucked in she becomes a plastic.

During this time she falls for Aaron, who is the ex of head plastic Regina. But Aaron is off limits, even though Regina tells Cady it's ok to date him. Of course she makes it hell for her. Eventually Regina gets her own and Cady gets Aaron. No big surprise here.

A good amount of SNL people in this movie cause it was written by Tina Fey who does weekend update on SNL. Amy Poelhr plays Regina's trophy wife mom, she's a hoot.

It's a decent flick, doesn't break the mold but if there is nothing to watch, pick it up.

It's ok.

Star Wars, The Original Trilogy

http://www.pictureparadise.co.uk/images/r3dvd/starwarsorigtrilogydvd.jpg

Ok, I'm sick of hearing people bitch about Lucas and the changes, shut the phuck up. This is the best damn series of all time! We finally have them on DVD and they are great! the films look brand news, like they were just made. the new stuff doesn't bother me at all and i was excited to see it. One of the biggest changes and the one most talked about is the addition of Hayden Christensen as Anakin in the Spirit scene at the end of ROTJ. Loved seeing him there, it is tying the movie together nicely. so everyone, shut up and enjoy it damn it!

i'll talk about some of the random stuff as most of us already know the story.

Jabba is claeaned up in ANH, looks more like the Jabba from Phantom Menace and ROTJ. Looks great. Ian MacDiarmind is now playing the Emporer os ESB in the holo when Vader is talking to him. He also mentions Luke by name and references him as the one who desroyed the first Death Star. Once again, tying it all in without distrupting the flow of the original.

also a ton of the special effects are cleaned up. the Rancor in ROTJ looks ten times better. Also the light sabres are cleaned up. I just loved how bright and clean the movies are. I have noticed some things that was hard to notice in the originals and the re issues a few years back, makes a world of difference.

the extra disc is great stuff. Especially the preview of Episode III. Seeing Vader again makes me have goosebumps, he's my all time favorite character. there is also some retrospect from Harrison ford, Mark Hammill, Carrie fisher and Lucas to name a few. there is a documentary on how SW has influence different directors like Peter Jackson who says HE INCORPORATED IDEAS FROM SW INTO LORD OF THE RINGS! So there all you hobbit lovers!

there is an easter egg with a gag and blooper reel, that is fun to see.

This makes you want to see the next movie, I can't wait. when that one comes out al lthe naysayers will be eating it and then praising Lucas for the god her is!

if you haven't gotten this set yet, drop what you are doing and go out now, it does NOT get better then this!

On that note let's wrap it up. This weekend I have a comic show so I might not be seeing anything, but we'll see.

'I will become the most powerful Jedi ever!'
'I'm the damn designer, bitches!'

Awesome reviews Joe. I tell you, I jumped 2 times at least in The Forgotten when 'they' used their cosmic vacuums.

I'm asking for the Star Wars trilogy for Xmas.

Forgotten was damn cool. The only time I jumped was when the car got hit. I wasn't expecting that. The half-expected the 'cosmic vaccums'.

Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists.... When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves. We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost. That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence.

Anyone else seen Shaun of the Dead? I caught it last night. Thought it was kind of a funny idea, making fun of the absurdity of Zombie flics. Had some funny parts but I had the impression it was the same joke stretched out through the whole movie.
I didn't think that it holds a candle to Army of Darkness.

Can't wait to see it, still. I love mockumentaries and obvious ripoffs of famous movies... Remember 'The Return of the Living Dead'? Such a classic... I found it recently on DVD, couldn't believe my luck! The soundtrack was the best! /emoticons/biggrin.gif

Oh hey, I saw Hero last Sunday. It was really freaking awesome. The use of color was terrific! I know that's a weird thing to say kind of randomly, but if you've seen it/will see it, you'll know what I mean.

Yeah, I want to see Hero really bad, but our town is like an example of how to be "in the middle of friggin nowhere"...Hero is still not out in the two theatres we have. Forgotten looks awesome, too. And DVD wise, I still want to see Fahrenheit 9/11 just to see what all the hub-bub is about since I did like Bowling for Columbine...and for people doing earlyChristmas shopping, get that copy of North & South for your mothers/wives whatever.

And wholeheartedly agree about people who b!tch about the changes to the original Star Wars trilogy...you are not George Lucas, and it is not your creation...get it on laserdisc and a player for it if you must have the originals. Whatever, I like the changes for the most part, with the exception of a few, but I'm not going to let an appreciation of three awesome movies be ruined from two collective minutes (or whatever it is)of added material.

Gotta have the cowbell baby!

You wanna know what I want to see that I haven't seen in a long time and can't find on DVD? Orgazmo. Infinitely excellent and offensive.
