I'm in the process of learning html and CSS and i've
had flash 5 since it's release, I've just not used it as much.
I'm wondering will I be able to produce working
animations with in the current market with it.
I'm planning on upgrading to Flash in near future.
What are the pro's and cons with the old version?
It's the one and only classic MAC/OS app. I have
running on an external drive.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.:)

It's limited. It can do basic tweening, and functionality (buttons, pages, etc.) but it will not do video or sound very well if at all. It doesn't even have many of the basic components like scrollpane. It all runs on Actionscript 1. And many of the commands in flash 5 have been depreciated.

You may find yourself having to relearn everything once you get to flash cs3. Especially since flash cs3 is actionscript 3 based.

Learn the basic tweens and buttons - but leave learning any higher functions for when you get cs3. Else you are going to waste a lot of time.

Thanks Drazan, well it's time to bite the bullet.
Adobe didn't bundle Ver.8 when I upgraded to CS2.3
so I'll have to pony up the money and do their bidding.
Thanks so much.:)

Wouldn't bother learning actionscript in 5 because AS3 is very different.
