For a school project, the Zoo (imaginary) is in Minnesota. Hence the emphasis on the wolf. Not sure if I saved them in the proper resolution (exported from Illustrator). The smallest size type is 8 pt.

Fixed the image tags so they would show up properly. ;)
The logo is beautiful, but way too complicated.
Why four animals? One should suffice. I know it would be hard for a zoo to choose one animal to essentially represent them, but many zoos specialize in the conservation of one particular species.
That fine white 'cross' between the animals and the cougar's whiskers are lost in the smaller size.
I also think that the name of the zoo is more important than the word 'zoo'. At a quick glance, the name gets lost. The word 'zoo' overpowers it. I'm sure this zoo would like to be known well enough as Forest Gate, and giving that name more weight in the logo will help establish that familiarity with the public.
I'd also simplify the leaves. I know it's a forest, but it's just a bit too much.
I'm normally really good with identifying animals, but what is that in the upper right?

Nice work so far.
I agree with Virgo, the logo is nice in the large size, but when small, the white animals get lost. It becomes a white blob.
On the business card, I would get rid of the blue bar behind the name. Just make the name blue. Not too sure about the green leaf next to the contact info..
Also, what is the animal in top right..my guess is a bird..parrot??

ooooo art explosion wolf! hehe i've actually used that wolf before so it caught my eye immediately.
i agree with the others that at a small size it loses a lot. trying 1 animal might help with that. it has a nice feel to it though good work so far =]

I figured it out. It's an eagle with it's head turned. The one leaf jutting in creates a weird thing with the negative space, making it look like an evil pig demon with a big, funky, curve-tipped horn on its head, squinty eyes and an open mouth.
What animal is that in the top right?
edit: never mind. guess I should read before posting.

Not to play devils advocate but why did you choose the wolf for the zoo? cant you see wolves all over Minnesota? I think I'd go to the zoo to see exotic animals, giraffe or a hippo or a kangaroo that i cant normally see.
On a more positive note, I love the design! but i agree whith the other posters

Brodie, nice work. One comment on production: Your printer is going to hate you for the bleed on those envelopes.
They'll have to be printed flat, then converted.
It will be next to impossible to print them without the blue bleeding to the back of the envelope...the die cutting and folding machines just don't have that kind of exacting tolerance.
It's also going to be more expensive for your client to print and convert rather than printing on converted envelopes. I'd assume that the Zoo is a 501(c)3 non-profit, so they'd want to keep costs down.
You might consider bringing the blue bar over to the envelope like you did on the business card...maybe reverse the address out of it below the logo horizontally, or even above the logo.
Just my two pennies...
i think jackimalyn brings up an interesting point - is the zoo (in general and for this zoo in particular) a place for protection of animals or for spectators to see exotics?
diametrically opposed goals there... and the graphics would certainly head in different directions based on which is primary.
i definitely agree that the word zoo is too big/given too much emphasis (although i think the design is pretty). and there are too many colors. don't see the need for the blue. and of course, the bird is too hard to decipher. i like the idea of having three animals in the logo - land, water, and air...
good luck.

You don't see the eagle with its head turned or the evil, open-mouthed pig demon?

The eagle. All I see is the evil, open-mouthed pig demon!
It definitely sets it apart from other zoos! :)

Perhaps this visual will help:

Looks like this guy, except head facing right and the beak open. The 'pig-demon eye' is the negative space between the lower beak and the shoulder. Block the leaf in the lower portion (the pig-demon mouth) to help see it more clearly.

Ooooh I see it.
God that was actually REALLY hard to see. It still is! xD

It's that pig-demon mouth/leaf. Screws everything up.
I hope the OP posts an update. This identity set has promise, I'd like to see where it goes.
I'd go to a zoo that had a pig-demon.

As long as you've both (and anyone else reading this) understands that that comment stems from a post in the More Bacony Goodness thread. I'm not entirely loopy. :D
