This design of mine took second place in the PhotoshopCafe Design Challenge held at Colin Smith's site PhotoshopCafe.com
The challenge was to design a video game cover using a tool from Photoshop in the title. This is 100% PS with no photos, except the one I took of my co-worker (http://webpages.charter.net/dwcloud/show/samuraiseth.jpg) posing with a broom so I could get the correct "posture" of the samurai character.
The name Kurai Senshi is Japanese for Dark Warrior. The small Kanji symbol above the word Kurai stands for Samurai.

Sweet. I'd buy it.
:D
If the cover was facing out. There was a design decision made not to wrap the image to the spine. Not being a gamer, would that be typical or would the game title be on the spine as well?

I think every playstation 3 game has to have the offical playstation thing on the spine. I dont think youn have choice.
Very nice work! Why didnt you win first place again?

Thanks for the replies everyone.
PrintDriver: It was just suppose to be a flat front view. However, in a real video game cover design the spine usually has the name of the game, manufacturer, and system name/logos.
marshdesign: The game bar (as I call it) at the top and side of the cover was not required, but I put it in anyway to add to the realism. If we did do the game bar it had to be changed so it wasn't stepping on any copyright infringement toes. I changed the Playstation 3 to "Cafe"station and the PS2 logo to PC (PhotoshopCafe).
I have no idea why I didn't win. I actually thought my first entry (http://photoshopcafe.com/cafe/viewthread.php?tid=45788) would take the prize so I was rather suprised when my second entry won.
DangerMouse: It's all original, like I said. I used the pic I took of my co-worker merely as a reference.

Love the second one too. Great original works! Perfect example here of how possessing drawing skills is an asset to any graphic designer.
