Well I've been working on a logo for a client lately. I just wanted to get some feedback from you guys as far as what you thought of these. I really liked the senefou with the long s, so I gave him a bunch of versions of those. Instead he told me to work on the tree one, so does anyone have any sugestions? it's still in the early stages. The s/mouse one was just a concept. Any ideas? It's a computer company that derives its name from a tribe in africa.

Well if the client likes a certain one, you should probably just go with that one. I like the 2nd one personally, but I would just drop the dot...I see the elephant reference, but never would have gotten it if you didn't mention it...it seems out of place as it is now. As for the tree variation, to me the leaves look kind of like they are supposed to be pixelated. One idea I kinda thought of is maybe make the whole tree look pixelated on purpose so it can have both a computer and african reference. Just a suggestion, good luck!

What an interesting brief. It's not often you get a computer company with an african tribe name so you really have a chance to do something that is truly original within your client's industry.
Third design down has a more tribal feeling. That font is interesting and will set your client apart from other computer companies that use very techie, non organic fonts.
You should give your client more tree options if that what they are asking for. The tree option you have now 5th one down, the tree is far too big IMO.
p.s. When you post designs, it's a good idea to label them 1,2,3 or a,b,c so that it's easier for us to comment on them. :)

hey thanks buda. Yeah I just posted a picture that I showed him, I didn't really have time to make changes in class. The tree is way to big, I agree. I just am having a hard time making the tree and name blend well together. I am kind of sad because I really liked the elephant concept, but oh well. Any thoughts on how to change the tree one? I'm sketching more now, just can't crack it.

Try and represent the tree in different ways with the typography.
It might even be fun doing a super pixelated tree?

Yes, keep working on the tree. Try to come up with 50-100 sketches of different ways to treat the tree and text. Some 'computer-y' ideas/images:
mouse/family of 'mice'
keys
motherboard
circuits
keyboard
wires
connectors
buttons
pixels
Good luck! Looking forward to seeing where you take this.

Also, research African trees, vegetation, landscapes, tribal art, etc. This could be a pretty sweet opportunity; you don't often get to mesh such different images as a computer company and an African tribe. Have fun!

I think microswede has some good ideas. I think if you could make the tree look like circuit boards or a pixelated tree would work well in this concept.
