CorelDraw is vector...
?
Or you could spring for the Adobe Creative suite (Illustrator is vector and InDesign is a layout program. What do you want 3D for?

You doing your own branding or branding for others?
The reason I ask is there are a million different wrong ways to create a logo and only a few right ones. I'm not talking about the 'look' but the way the file is set up. Most design grads can't even do it right the first time. :D

Its not about the software you use, its HOW you implement the software and the type of work you put out that matters - Execution if you will. Adobe and Corel both offer great products for designers....so you have to decide what you like working with the best!

Being a designer is NOT about you knowing HOW to use the software, or having the best software and being the 'coolest kid on the block'. Its about learning and understanding how to solve creative problems and communicating ideas. Its' HOW you IMPLEMENT the use of TYPOGRAPHY, COLOR, LAYOUT, Photography and Illustration...etc. that will make you stand out from your other nigerian designers.

Creating a logo doesn't happen in Indesign. Indesign is a page layout program (catalogs, brochures, etc....basically you put it all together in there). Illustrator is what most use for logo design. And photoshop has a very wide variety of uses from working with images, to creating illustrations.

Hope that clears some things up on what being a designer is really about. Best of luck!

You really wouldn't use indesign or quark for logo design anyway. you need a vector drawing program, and that's illustrator or corel. inkscape is an opensource program. but if you want the industry standard, use illustrator. but valerie is right -- you could own a formula one race car, and you wouldn't be able to drive it. just having the best doesn't mean you're going to produce the best. that takes talent, and time. best of luck!

Plus do you really want to be the designer whose files no one else can open, including your printers?

Great point. Using software that no one else around you is using isn't always cool. Sometimes it is a headache. Especially when you get stuck and need advice.

You could build handmade furniture using only a bowling pin and a steak knife in order to stand out. Your furniture would certainly be different, but not better. You'd be better off using a saw and a hammer like everyone else, and concentrating on standing out through your creative design and high quality craftsmanship.

You might want to rethink the name of your studio.

I've got to assume that's not the name of the actual business, just the name of the account on the forum. At least I hope that's the case.

Well with an account name like that, I would assume it was a joke...unless its a simple case of 'lost in translation'...

That's what I'd name my GD studio. If I specialized in collateral for the adult entertainment industry.
