This might be one of the easier questions of the day.

Is it possible to part of a page in 1 column and another part of the same pagein say, two columns.

I think the answer is yes, but I'm not sure how ... perhaps create a separate text box(yes ... that might be the answer).

Comments? Thanks in Advance.

Yep, seperate text boxes. You can create columns within your text boxes. Draw the box, then go down to your measurements palette...there is an area there for columns. Just type in the # of columns you want in that particular box and TA DAA :o)

d-zine, that's great
thank you for the additional tip on 'how to'

Can I ask you another question ... how do I insert a page break.
I've decided to take my campfire songbook of 216 pages and reformat in Quark ... I have to reformat everyline ... can you imagine - thousands of line. For some reason the two styles didn't import from word.

Anyway ... I deleted a page break and can't find it anywhere in help ... I must be looking up the wrong thing ... but just can't find it. There's gotta be a keystroke for it, but I can't find it.

woooooo - hold the huskies ... I reimported the word document and included the styles. That was close. Just need to know how to insert a page break. I turned on the codes and was ale to copy the page break marker, as a work-around, but can't figure out how to insert it without cheating. NOw ... if only I could get Quark to number the paragraphs. There are 216 songs and I have to number them all manually ... boooooooo!

LOL @ Perm!

But Yes Cowtoon you might want to get a Quark book. We don't mind nooby questions but it would save you a few headaches trust me.

What you need is a Visual Quick Start Guide Book from Peachpit. That's the book you get when your working with the program and you need quick and short answers not a paragraph with a tutorial.

Well Benjo ... and Big Perm ... you are right.
I can't afford a book right now (not unless a third job that I applied for, comes through). I haven't been able to talk the company into getting one, so I'll just copy and paste the existing page break from the code that I found. Finding 'ctrl insert', although an accident, and a has been a valuable tool.

I've appreciated your patience with my questions. I am totally cognizant of how basic they've been ... not to mention embarassing - for me. I kept hoping you wouldn't respond with nasty come-backs as I'm sure some of my questions deserved it. If it's any consolation, I spend entirely too much time struggling and looking through menus and help-pages before I post. I don't give up easily! I'm batting '0' with with Quark's help though ... results are either 'none' or unrelated. I know sooo much software and am used to just picking it up and using it. Quark has been a humbling experience. ... frustrating and embarassing to post such 'basic' questions. It doesn't help that I know two people that used to know Quark and they are clueless to answer my questions, so I stopped asking. My trainer even told me that Quark doesn't do tables and he was described as a Quark guru. Fortunately d-zine told me differently.

That's my story ... didn't mean to ramble on so much. Thanks again for your help and patience. I do appreciate it.
