Well, I am getting ready for my annual Mother's Day Celebration/feast. Basically picked a lot of stuff up from last year's menu but added a few new items.

As usual, I will be making most from scratch - exceptions being the focaccia is from a mix and the pepper jelly was bought. comments/thoughts/suggestions.
Oh, and instead of Crab-stuffed Portabellos, I am making Bacon & Blue Cheese Mushroom Caps.

2008 version the wife likes:

2008 version we wont be using (based on a wine label style):

ok, you need to get in touch with my husband so he can get some inspiration! They're excellent! I like the orange one best!

My next fav would be the last one in orange :)

They all look so cool, but I think I like the first one, also. I think I remember your menus from last yr, very cool! Do you really cook all this for the Mom's in your family? How many are you cooking for? This is such a cool idea.

They all look lovely - as does the menu list. I agree, it's a great idea.

I agree as well, nice job! The only niggle I see is an inconsistency on the upper and lowercasing of the menu items. And I'm thinking crustini only has one n, not two. I'd also close the kerning after the apostrophe in Mother's. Otherwise, nice job, and the added bonus of making me officially hungry. :D

I like them all...first one is best, the orange one comes in second, but I see it's from last year.

Personally, the tracking is tight for my taste...

Now you've inspired me to make one as well!

Thanks for the replies.
I can see the tracking issue...the spelling (no wonder it didn't register) and the uppercasing (fixed that on a final print out)

As for how many cooking for...about 14 this year. And yes, I cook it all, with the exceptions noted. I will e taking a half day Friday and because we are helping out at church on Mother's Day morning, this will take place on Mother's Day Eve.

--and I see the spacing after apostrophe issue too--

Thanks all.

Just my 2 cents... I think the 2007 menu style is perfect in its simplicity:cool:

they look nice. What font is that...is it Chalet?

I believe so. I found Coolvetica from Larabie fonts at teh same time and cannot remember which it is but think it may be Chalet since Coolvetica is slightly heavier.

thanks

Ah the menu is great. I make Salmon Grape leaf wraps myself, but i still can't get them to stay as good as the Vietnamese restaurant. I do a lot of the cooking here in my house too. I find it just as creative and satisfying as doing art. Its not unusual for me to cook a full 3 course dinner 7 nights a week.

So the menu is right on.

However the 2007 and alternate versions of the 2008 graphics are mediocre, but thats okay because your 2008 pink menu is dynamite. It says 'Mothers Day' all over it. Nice job.

Sounds like this thread (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2489) will be right up your alley, skinns. :)

So, BJMR, How'd the brunch go? A rousing success, I hope! :D

Yes, everything went smoothly. I wanted Rice paper for the Asian Wraps but couldn't find any and ended up using wraps for lunches or whatnot.

We have plenty of pork loin still leftover - it was about the length of my arm.
I invited co-workers over for lunch today and they all enjoyed it.

Thanks for asking. (and now my boss wants me to design her birthday invite.)
