I have used a PC for GRaphic Design for 7+ years. Now my boss suggests buying a Mac. It might be unpopular saying I like Windows but I am used to the technical problems Windows has and I like Microsoft, Windows and the programs I can run on it. I am looking at a MacBook Pro with a 23inch Apple screen. I used Adobe Master Collection CS3, - Premier Pro, After Effects, Soundbooth, Encore, Acrobat Professional, Indesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop Extended, Bridge, Version Cue + it's server, etc.
I read a lot about how good Mac's are and how Windows isn't but apart from the boosting from each side I have no hard evidence to convince me to go the Mac way.
I know Mac's were built for graphic design and PCs were never intended for it (so my boss says) but can anyone actually give me proof that it will be easier, quicker and with less delays and hassle using a Mac?
Thanks.

There is no proof either way.
It's not the computer that makes you are good designer. These days, Mac and PC are about the same.
You could build a case with your boss that you would like to stick with what you know (no learning curve). Also, if you stick with PC you won't have to buy all new Mac software.

What Buda said is dead on.
Just curious of the reason your boss is giving to switch to a different system?

Bruce this topic has been talked to death. But, since it's probably new for you ... Take a look here and see some of the discussions we have had previously. ;)

I didn't post the dead horse because I thought that this situation was a little different.
If PC and Mac are equal in design, then the economical thing for the boss to do is to stick with PC rather than have to buy all new programs. Also, there could be file and font problems when switching over to Mac.
In this case, buying a PC would cost $1000-3000 since you would get to keep all your old fonts and programs. Buying a Mac could cost $10,000 to replace everything.

Especially now that Mac went to (relatively) the same parts as regular PCs now.

The thought is the Mac will work better and be more reliable machine for the next 3 years. However my current system cost NZ$3000 and the Mac will cost NZ$9000 (US$ about 6500). So I don't think we are going to Mac now.

Thanks everyone for your help. We got quoted $9000 for the Mac package we looked at compared to the $3000 we have now so that closes that matter. Too expensive. In fact locally we could buy 4 PCs for that. Thanks everyone.

Well, glad it worked out in your favour.

I bought a DP G5, 23" Cinema Display, and CS3 Premium. I paid about half of what you're quoting for your Mac package.
Something is odiferious in Denmark.

$9000 New Zealand dollars is around $7000 USD if that makes a difference.
