I've looked at the indesign vs quark topics in the stickied section bit but i dont really want to know which is better, its more i would like to know how easily i could learn Quark if I've always used Indesign?
I've been looking through job advertisements and have noticed alot want you to be able to use both quark and indesign. So I thought i'd ask people who use both how different they are to use and if its something i could pick up quickly in a week or two(to an acceptable standard).
Also is it really worth doing or should i just look for jobs that don't require you to know quark?
thanks

Kind of the opposite...but I had to make the transition from Quark to Indesign and the result was pretty much seamless and now I do nothing with Quark unless I am going through older files. Also Indesign was easier due to the similar shortcuts to other Adobe products. But this doesn't help you..

It's your prepress skills that make the difference here I think. If you know prepress, then you really do not need to be intimidated by quark. Although if I were a betting man my guess is you will despise the transition. But it's important to make it as you make yourself more versatile. Best way is just to dig in and start working in it. Download a trial version and throw a piece together in it. Do not let it hinder you from applying for those positions.

Yep, as DM said if you are proficient at one you will be able to figure out the other without too much trouble.
