I just heard about this but i guess it has been public knowledge for a few months now but Jimmy Fallen is going to be taking over for Conan O'Brien and hosting the late shot starting in 2009.

now i'm glad that Conan is going to be on earlier because i rarely ever catch it as it is now but in the rare case that i'm up late the last person i want to watch is this guy. thankfully i don't catch the late show very often but now i have a reason not too.

Oh come on.... it could have been much worse. Jimmy Fallon will be funny, and I have a feeling that Conan played a big part if picking him as a replacement.

To be honest though, I expect that once I have watch Conan, I will just go to bed... woo hoo no more staying up so late!

i just thought he hammed it up too much on SNL and don't really appreciate his type of humor i guess. it's ok in small dose but he get irritating fast. like cnic i just won't be compelled to stay up so late anymore

Jimmy Fallon had a very funny bit on SNL's Weekend Update where he would review movies based on the trailer.

His "review" of Meet the Parents was just a bad impression of De Niro: "I'm gonna meet you...We're gonna meet, meet the parents..."

I found that enjoyable. But there's something else on Saturday night that I also find enjoyable. I'll give you a hint: *imitating guitar* "bow-chika-bow-bow"!

He's simply a bad actor. I did semi- like him on weekend update but he could never even keep a straight face. his jokes were always so immature. I found him very lame. Guess itll be an easy transition from conan to him though.

I think NBC showed a lot of guts when they replaced Letterman with Conan.
He was little-known, had very little on-camera time, but surprised everyone.
(I watch him whenever possible, but it is often too late for me)

Fallon, on the other hand, is a known quantity. Very lean on talent. One of the weakest members of the SNL cast. He got by with the "boston guy" bit, but little else. I think the girls think he's cute or something.

I think this is NBC's way of kissing off the "late night" franchise. I don't see it lasting very long.

Oh come on! Conan is awesome. Don't underestimate the power of the hair. Honestly, I don't watch him, but stuff I've seen in the past is quite funny...I guess he ain't so great anymore.

Fallon is a knob, a slight on the whole idea of comedy. Laughing during every SNL skit you were ever in does not a good comedian make.

LOL I just love the title of this thread, typically. Too funny. It was my thought exactly when I heard. I am not a fan of Jimmy Fallon at all. But I also did not like Conan when he first started, though I think he's great; the show hasn't been as funny as in the past, but Conan as a person is a really smart and funny guy. My favorite is when he interviews Will Arnet, who is a complete loon. He runs circles around Conan! I just can't see Jimmy Fallon interviewing and keeping up with anyone.

Do you know who I really think is funny and underrated? Jason Bateman. I'm going to push for him taking over Jimmy Fallon's spot in 2010!

Hilarious, isn't it Typically! It is one of my all time favorite tv shows ever. Their characters get more fleshed out and demented as time goes on. How about David Cross as Tobias!!

The first time I saw the show was during season one when it was first aired, and I'd never heard anything about it. I've always liked Jason Bateman, so I stopped to watch for a minute. Since there is no laugh track (happily) I didn't quite know how to gague it at first. I thought it was an evening soap opera, but then I could tell that wasn't right at all, but I still didn't know what the heck was going on. It is sort of Seinfeld esque where every episode builds on a past one for jokes etc. Ah, love Arrested Development.

haha yea my friend told me that by the third season they knew they were getting canned so they just pushed it as much as they could. i can't wait! it's a shame that shows like this get cancelled and american idol gets 2 hour shows 3 days a week.
