For the works, very likely all designers do, mostly of which using mouse more often than keyboard, which one actually have better support between the ball and optical mouse.

One time I tried to use optical one but it didn't last long and I convert back to the ball mouse. Perhaps I need to try the better different brand of optical mouse or there are some tricks to use it properly. The more use the ball mouse it is easily worn out.

I use a 1500 DPI optical mouse. Cost about 50 dollars.

Love how smooth it is after replacing my old ones.

I use an optical and my wacom pen tablet. Could never get used to the feel of a trackball.

I loved my wacom tablet until it stopped working. I've actually just put a bid in for new wacom tablet. I prefer optical mouse, but like anything, it needs a clean every now and then to be fully appreciated.

When I have to use my coworker's computer I am always disgusted by his dirty mouse. It's really hard to move a cursor with a dirty mouse.

I use the microsoft wireless laser mouse 5000, i find it to be really good. Is optical better to use than laser?

i've got a collection of old "steel marbles" from the old biege mac mouses from the 90s. after dealing with that, i decided the fewer moving parts, the better.

i've got a microsoft corded laser mouse that's awesome. razer, maker of awesome gaming mice, has a mouse targeted at mac users that's supposed to be awesome as well.

I couldnt imagine using a ball mouse. I go with high end Logitech cordless lasers. They have an awesome customer service and return policy. Super light, very precise, form fitting. Youll spend around $85-$100 on the MX Revolution, buts its so worth it and will last you a long time.

we all use either the Mac mouse with no balls or the Logitech brand.

I use a Kensington Expert "mouse" for production work. It's a large Trackball with a scroll ring. Back when I designed, I used a Wacom and a regular old Mac-mouse (it was that long ago).
