So on Monday I went to the strangest job interview of my life! Rather than asking me questions, the spent the whole time explaining the job to me and what I'd be doing. All they wanted to know was what software I know how to use, what wage I'm looking for, and if it's something I'd be interested in if offered. Well, today I got the call, and they're offering it to me!!!
Sadly, I'll be doing very little design :( Instead I'll be the production coordinator for a magazine, with some sales on the side. The pay is the same as I'm making now, plus 10% of every sale I make for ad space. Sounds interesting, and completely different from what I'm doing now.
Hopefully this job leads to something design related tho. Or I'm going to have to start freelancing because I don't want to quit designing. I'm pretty excited and I just had to share :D

Ack sales! My palms get sweaty just thinking about it LOL. Good luck man, if you have that extra bone in your head that makes you good at sales you can make some great money. :)

Yea, not a huge fan of sales either...but that's part of my job now, so I at least know I can do it. Mostly it'll just be asking clients if they want to renew their ad. From what they told me there's no cold calling, just dealing with people we already have as customers. It's the actual sales team that gets to deal with the fresh meat...I mean, new clients.

Well it sounds like that they had already decided you were right for the job based on your CV so the "interview" was for them to help you understand the position they were about to offer you.
Congrats and I hope it does work out for you.
Congrats on the job! The good thing about the sales aspect is that if you are passionate about the design part (which you are) you can easily use that to your advantage. Sales is fairly easy if you believe in the product or service. When you feel like you are scamming people it gets hard (if your honest anyway!)

they were pretty happy that I had a design background. that way I can take 10 minutes, throw together an ad for the sales team to bring to them to start a foundation and help with the sell.
