Hi,

I'm hoping for some advice on what kind of software programs can create this kind of promotional clip... http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/1/15/1700453/trial%20and%20retribution1.wmv

More specifically, are there programs available that use relatively simple pre-set templates and effects that are are more appropriate for the basic user, rather than having to be a wiz with the likes of After Effects?

Thanks for any help you can offer

Kat, it's just a promo clip for some TV show, it opened right up in my browser.

uber, you'll need to be more specific about what you're trying to do.

No matter what software your planning to use, you'll have to learn that software to do the effects you want. Even just for using simple plugin's to do so. So why not learn something that will be in use of your future life or career?
I think After Effects is the best choice for a begginer. It has a lot of plugin to use. .....but if you don't think so, try a search on google with 'simple video editing program' you might find something that will do it.

Hi,

Basically I need to be able to produce something as close to the clip as possible.

I've used a program called 3D Pack Shot which can do the spinning box you see at the beginning, although it doesn't animate the box opening with the DVD flying out. Maybe there's a similar but more advanced piece of software that automates that for you rather than having to create it...

A frame then flies from the DVD box and into full screen which is pretty cool.....and does the same thing in reverse at the end. Any ideas?

If I can figure that out, I imagine the main footage is just sequencing of selected clips using a basic editor with some text laid over the top....even Windows Movie Maker will do that...

Any tips gratefully received. Would sort out a big problem that's for sure.

Cheers

Though it looks simple, it is still a fairly complex clip. The box is "3D", spinning on its own (offset) X axis, then the side panel opens allowing a DVD case to fly out.
I highly doubt you will find a plug-in or any other easy way out. This is a job for a professional. Total comp time should range in the 1-3 hour range.

P.S. Even though the effect is somewhat complex, its implementation (the composite) looks very amateur. Having a professional create this would also better integrate the effect for a professional looking final product.
