As Many Ideas For "Dissertation" Topics/Issues. Anything. and resource links?

Hi, im currently going on to do my final year and have to present a short explanation into what i will write about for my final year dissertation.
i was hoping i could have a couple or as many Issues/Topics as possible to look at.

and also. if you know any good webpages with online essays, resources.. etc.

I am absolutley hopeless with theories and catagories (post modernism/structualism/impressionism) so any guidance or advice would be amaaaaazing!!

Welcome, nikki. What subjects are you interested in? You'll get a much better response by posting your initial work.

Also, if you look in the graphic design section, in the resources forum, there are many threads to give you inspiration.

i was thinking something along the lines of:
"theory of logo design"
looking at why logos, dispite many cultural differences, work the same across the globe? any input on where i could get some info would be grrrr8!

I would start with Google, and other search engines. Try logo design theory and logo designers. David Airey in the UK and Jeff Fisher in the US are great starts. Also look at Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi, and author of "Lovemarks."

There's a few days reading right there. We'll be happy to do C&C on what you come up with. :D

What controversial design topics are you interested in?

Corporate branding, Logo Design, Typography, 2D advertising are aspects of design, but they don't lend themselves easily to a dissertation topic.

You could look at subjects like intellectual property (who owns a design), copyright vs plagiarism, changing faces of brands and vs a stable and consistent brand image.

Stuff like that.

yeah great. i haven't even begun the research and my mind is spaghetti already ! :( i hate having to think too much. hehe . But at least i have come kind of beginning.
