my cats aren't stinky. As long as you clean the cat boxes a few times a week they don't smell at all. Not like a dog, which smells when it needs a bath AND any time it is wet! LOL!

My cats don't scratch, either. Go figure!

Reminds me of an article someone sent me! (Please, do not try this at home!!!)

HOW TO WASH THE CAT

Thoroughly clean the toilet. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape).

CAUTION!!!!! Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for any purchase they can find.

Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a 'power wash and rinse' which I have found to be quite effective.

Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.

Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

I'll have to see if I can find pictures of the kittens that I found on the doorstep. Just born. One lived, the other ones died. The living one is a big pest now.

Cat farts stink, and cat poo. Its really really bad!!! I do like cats though. We put our cats litter tray in the garden so it started going out there. Then we took it away and she creeps around into the bushes and does her business. Job done no smells, no problem (unless she farts while on your lap!!)

Hey 40th...yer cat looks alot like my Spanky.

Hey my cat isn't stinky allthough when he farts - LOOK OUT! LOL! Doesn't linger long tho thank goodness!

My lil poohead has a vet visit today :o( He's gonna be mad at me afterwards bc he HATES the ride to the vet!

Ok so I had Spanky's vet visit today....was a long visit but the vet is great with him.

After telling her Spanky's symptoms she:
-Ran blood test
-Did a urine test
-did a feline lukemia test
-Xrays

told her his symptoms and so she tested for feline lukemia which was neg so thats good and he never has to do that again. They did blood work and his gluclose levels were good so that rules out the feline diabetes....blood test showed that the kidney levels were still in the normal range but pretty high so she did X-rays.....X-rays showed everything great and healthy except he has some lil spots on his kidneys...the vet thinks eitherthey are kidney stones or he has chronic kidney disease.

She gave me some special litter that doesn't soak up the urine so I can get her a sample. If the sample shows crystals then it indicates kidney stones which would mean sergury ..if it doesn't show that then she would do more test but would lean towards a chronic kidney disease whic apparently is common in cats but they can still live a long time...just have a special diet and stuff.

When we took him in march he was 9.5 lbs (USE to be 12 lbs!!) this time he went form 9.5 lbs down to 8.4 lbs. she said for now to feed him whatever he will eat....even if its doritos....LOL...so that he eats, and we will worry about his diet more once we know exactly what the prob is. also have to give him antibiotics. Oh and they put some fluid under his skin in case of dehydration.

So thats all I know for now. He hasn't used the Dr.s litter yet but he better soon or elseI have to take him back in there and they have to stick a needle in his bladder to get the urine sample and I don't want that http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/weep.gif . The Dr. didn't want to put him through anything else today. She said he did great tho and was a beautiful kitty which I already knew ;o)

My oldest male has some problems and I think it is time for the vet. Being that he is siammes SP?, thre are alot of problems that follow that breed.
It's kind of hard since I love all the cats (but most are ferrel cats) (being that they are just cats that were wild and just showed up)
But this one is really close to the fam. When he eats he leaks a fluid out of one of his eyes that is clear...Any clue?

Spanky's vet bill was $136.00 today - not so bad I guess but I'm tapped now. He is worth it of course so I guess I will just 'hook' for grocery money!

u know they do have cat insurance u mite wanna look into. I dunno what they do about pre-existing conditions, but its like $20/mth. if he needs surgery it mite be worth it?!

Coconut: not sure what's the matter with him.. :( One time i was at the SPCA and there was this ADORIBLE cat.. reminded me of my orange one and he was all teary eyed.. it was so sad. looked like he had a kitty flu or something.. ;(

Yeah..I have heard about that insurance. Seems wierd to have pet insurance. I dunno why tho...LOL! I will just wait and see what is going on with him before I make any decisions I guess...*sigh*

I managed to get his urine sample (which was ewe! LOL) but I will run it over to the vet after work today...maybe she can have a look at it while I am there to see if its kidney stones or something else :o( Oh and he really doesn't like taking the antibiotics either...ugh! Poor Spanky!!

Yeah LOL I thought pet insurance seemed weird too! I did look into it but never purchased it. At Kittens i knew my babies would probibly not have serious medical problems so it seemed like $40/mth was a waste. Mite as well save it.. (like i did.. haha)

My take on it...

pet insurance is generally a rip off. Take the $40 per month per animal you would have spent on it and put it in the bank... once you have $1000 in your 'emergency' account, you should be covered for just about anything that comes up. Maintain the account in case anything ever happens.

As far as the clear fluid leaking out of his eye, this is a VERY common problem in cats... generally a blocked tear duct. It doesn't hurt the cat or anything, and it can be flushed out, but generally involves sedation. Since sedation always carries a slight risk, wait until the cat has to go in for a spay/neuter or a dentistry and have the vet flush the tear duct at that point. In the mean time it shouldn't really bother him. 3 of my 9 are dealing with this right now, I just use a warm, slightly damp washcloth to wash their faces each morning.

You should check with the vet if the discharge is anything other than clear, because it could indicate some kind of (usually respiratory) infection. Let me know if you need more info!!!
