Perfect. I'm meeting with the bakery to discuss my wedding cake this afternoon. :D
As I go through some of these photos, I see a few cakes that have been featured in some of the bridal magazines I've gotten. Beautiful stuff!!

Well my cake won't be quite as ornate (fondant would have added a few hundred bucks to the cost of the cake) but it will be purty. Three tiers, buttercream frosting, chocolate brown fabric ribbon along the bottom of each tier with purple paisleys and light green ornamentation. The inside: chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. :D

That sounds great Virgo.
Mine was 3 tiers too. It was over a water fountain and surrounded by 5 heart shaped cakes for the bridesmaids :D
It was Ivory covered in fondant and that lacey filagree look. It was white cake with almond buttercream filling around the edges of the cake with Raspberry filling in the center.
It was soooooo good. ;)

I wouldn't want to cut into those either.
Our receptionist's daughter just got married and had a 3 tier plain white wedding cake made. The tiers had to be assembled DIY (because the tier might collapse during the journey) and the flowers were bought separately from the florist and added later. So basically, 3 totally plain, white, round cakes in 3 sizes. That's all. $700! That is theft right?

Yipes ... If all I needed was 3 round plain, non decorated cakes I know a great baker .. her name is Betty Crocker :D

The Today Show is doing their Wedding contest (hurg...) today they chose cakes, and these minis were one of the choices.

how mini were they?
I often thought about having a mini cake for each guest would be a cool idea too ;)

I never actually saw anyone standing next to them, but if that's a typical banquet 10-top, it's probably 1 cake for each table, don't you think? Maybe as the centerpiece?

Speaking as a guy not fancy enough to have ever eaten a slick-looking fondant wrapped cake... What's it taste like? I've heard that it's not as tasty as regular frosting.

individual cakes for weddings is very fashionable these days. Expensive though.
But wouldn't it take the fun out of "cutting the cake"?
