I thought some of you might be interested to know that Apple will be releasing a new iPod in the next 1-2 months. It will be a 60gb version of the 4G but will be compatible with iPhoto and will also include a colour LCD.
I believe you can never have enough memory but I don't see the need to be able to view your photos on the go (on a 2 inch screen!)... just seems completely pointless. I like my iPod solely as a MP3 player, I just hope it doesn't end up taking the same route as mobile phones with all their gadgets. I don't want a portable cinema, camera, PDA , sandwich toaster, TV or shoe polisher crammed into my iPod... I just want to listen to music, is that too much to ask for?

I'm with you. I love to share my photos, but something tells me that a 2' screen isn't going to cut it!
LOL @ portable sandwich toaster!

I hope that doesn't shorten battery life. I can't say I disagree with color. And you can already put photos on the iPod.
Which reminds me, please help me (and yourself) get a <a href="http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=9871683
" target="_blank">free iPod</a>!

It's rumoured to be priced at around $500.

Lotta people I know dump their camera flash cards onto their iPod when they travel.
Can guess what some of em are getting for Xmas this year.

I think its a good thing to do..... if you need it. I have heard pretty bad reviews about the current ipod's card reader. Apparently to copy a 256MB card will pretty much drain the battery. If that could be sorted i'd love it. Keep 10GB of music and 10 for my pics (on a 20 of course!!).
My card for my camera is 1 Gig and stores roughly 400 pics which is a huuuge amount but i can easily get through them in a day or 2. If i am away on holiday or travelling it is a real bonus to be able to do this. Of course, you have to be pretty keen on photography for it to be worth while.
Also, to be honest, i can't wait for the multi devices to start becoming a viable option. I always have my phone with me so why carry an ipod as well? Perfect for me would be a Phone\5MP+ camera\MP3\Storage. All backed up with biometric fingerprinting of course. Imagine walking into a music store, flipping through some folders and then plugging your phone into the till to receive your music or video..... Pretty sweet me-thinks! Or going round to a party where everyone has all their music available from a bluetooth stereo.... The possibilities are huuuge and i'm all for it (Although you know that it will take years before they release something like this. They'll do it one bit at a time to make more money.... the pancakes!!).

I agree with your last paragraph there MikeyB. I've been watching the camera phones, they are slowly getting better. Currently they are only a little over 1 megapixel.

yeah, but those phones cost just as much as a 5 or 6 megapixel camera.
however they are sweet, my friend just got that new black Motorola with a 1.1 megapixel cam.

I don't know if i can find the article... i'll look. But i saw a 4 MP phone camera in Japan. Obviously i'm sure its very expensive but then again so was a 4MP camera 4 years ago. Personally, i wouldn't bother with anything less than 5. I have a 5 MP and a 6.3 MP camera now and am not prepared to go down in quality for any pictures.
I also saw a 20 or maybe 40 Gig SD card.... yes SD, the tiny ones about the same size as a phones sim card!! Downside is the cost $14,000+ if i remember correctly.
The bottom line is though, that the prices WILL drop dramatically in the near(ish) future. I intend to keep up to date with this kind of technology :)
