How can this country, the home of the breakfast pizza and cheese in a spray can be devoid of pastry covered pork!!! I am culinarily imprisoned in the land of the free. Arrrghh!!! The Irony!!!
That last link is way over my head Broacher ... so I am just going to sit here and look pretty and look very impressed and say .... ooooh you are sooo smart Mr B.
What to do in NZ? Well, what are you into? There are all the obvious action packed adventurous things of course. Such as hurling yourself off stuff.
PFT, that's nothing... You should have seen the excellence I pissed out this morning when I woke up!
I could feed 12 cannibals. I'm only 3'6" but have a 20lb.... (ahem)

I prefer the short and simple approach:
Dear Boss,
I QUIT!!!!!
Later, suckas!!!!!

Crossposting, this is, hmmm? Laws of Graphic Design, these are
Default, your fonts will.
If two versions of a photo, you have, send the wrong one to the printer, you will.
Promise anything, the salesperson will.
If of two words the text consists, one, misspelled, will be.
Not, spell checkers do.
Grammar checkers not either.
Not, global search-and-replaces are.
The index entry you leave out, the first one the client looks under, it will be.
If shown to a client, three designs are, chosen will your least favorite be.
If shown two designs are, requested will a third be. If provided, then one of the first two, chosen will be.
Contact with the client, the best designs survive never.
Misspell the name of the client's spouse, you will.
Already copyrighted, your best idea is.
To the distance from the studio creative inspiration flows in inverse proportion.
Doctors, astronauts, and their jobs, plumbers need training to do, but graphic designer, anyone with a copy of publisher is.
Equal the number of colors in the original bid specs, the number of colors in a client's design will, plus two.
The client's disk will run on your equipment not.
If to read your client's disk you purchase new equipment, be the last disk of that type you will ever receive, will it.
"Get it.", your client will not
Suck at Yodaspeak I do. But when I go to the translator, it spits out my same sentence with "hmmmm" after it. Do I naturally yodaspeak and know it not? Hmmmm.
Mmm... Bambi-venison.
It brings up the whole field of strange logos where the happy, jolly animals being marketed actively promotes potential carnivors with how tasty they are, once killed, gutted, chopped into bits, and roasted over hot coals. We are a very strange species indeed.
I've even seen, in some rare logo cases, portrayals of the animals self-carving themselves (auto-mutilation?) in the effort to assure the market that this is indeed their one and only desire.
Animal masochism as a communications strategy? Doesn't really work well with me, a life-long carnivore who prefers to live in the juicier, tastier world of willful-denial when it comes to the truth about what goes into my mouth. But that whole 'animal excited to be eaten' idea seems to be centered much more in the 1950's ethos than anywhere else where it wasn't enough to simply drink milk, unless it was from a contented cow.

Hi
I have a design job to create a magazine cover which should look like someone has sat naked on a photocopier and copied their bum cheeks. A friend of mine when I first started work did this and the glass broke and he dripped blood into the copier and had to go to hospital for stitches so I don't want to do this to get the image. I thought of having someone do the same against glass held vertically and taking a photo but we can't hold the glass steady enough to get a good pic. Can anyone else creative out there suggest a solution.
This is for a magazine advert for a skin cleanser. Clever but tricky.
Needless to say the photo should not include the cavity between the cheeks.

Yeah, we really don't need to see any stink nuggets at 300 dpi or higher. Please for the love of god have the 'model' wiped.
the terminolgy "stink nugget"? made me gag slightly. Could we perhaps use the less repulsive term "bum trinket"?

WOO HOOO for FRIDAY!
Great quotes Kool and nice classics!! I've actually been here long enough to remember the threads the classics come from. That's scary. :D Regardless, thanks for making my Friday morning a little chucklier!
Everyone have a fantastic holiday weekend. Hope you're all doing something cool. I think I'll be painting things for my wedding centerpieces for most of the weekend. And maybe going to see the new Indiana Jones and Prince Caspian.

basic setup and you throw ping pong balls into the opponents cups. once the ball is in the cup the cup comes off the table and is consumed. we play 2 beers per side. once all the cups are gone from one side the losing team then has to drink the remaining cups and the winner stays on the table till losing or falling onto the table =]

I'm a bit confused by all the memorial day sales events to be honest. We don't do rememberance day sales in the UK. It would be considered disrespectful.

frankster, you're not the only one. I don't understand how that happened, either. I remember as a Boy Scout going from City Hall to City Hall (we have a lot of small bedroom communities in the inner suburbs around the city proper) as a Color Guard to Memorial Day rememberances. Now it seems to be all about white sales and barbeques. I like to spend the day with my parents. My Dad's a WWII vet.

I tried many times to fly that plane in a simulation, and every time, I crashed into the Channel during takeoff. At 20 years old, I never could've done what he did. Can you tell I'm a proud son? :D

Oh, so the essence of Memorial Day is similar to what Anzac Day is to us here. Only there aren't too many sales on Anzac day and you can't serve booze. Nothing is open until the afternoon either. We don't have meat but we do get to eat Anzac biscuits.

That's funny! I know "Joe Pitre a deux femmes" is about a man named Joe Pitre who used to live around here who had two women! We play it just about every gig but one time Joe Pitre's son was in the audience. Things got really rowdy then! Apparently the Pitre family doesn't appreciate the legacy old Joe left! Another favorite of mine is "La Danse de Limonade." It's about how wonderful Lemonade is for a hangover! "Passer moi un verre de limonade"
garricks
05-27-2008, 10:00 PM
Oh, I can see how Mr. Pitre's antics would be the subject of a song...and a source of embarassment for his family! As for Lemonade for a hangover, it depends on what kind of lemonade...I think I'd prefer the hard variety!
I love Piaf's "L'Accordianiste." It's about a prostitute, who falls in love with an accordianist. He goes off to war and is killed. (I'm missing some of the story in the middle here...) She goes back to hooking, but she keeps hearing an accordian and thinks he's come back to her, but she's really just going mad. The end of the song has the accordian spiralling out of control. It's so much better when you know the story!
cornfed

It is better! That's a pretty sad story!
I love music history! When I sing, I sing songs from the 20's and 30's mostly. I do quite a few old murder ballads and stuff like that. Outside of the zydeco music we play - well, if you want to get technical, we're playing "la-la" music (pre-zydeco) - I am a huge Charlie Poole fan. I luvs me some Charlie Poole and have learned to play/sing just about every one of his recorded songs. You can hear some clips here:
