So I have been submitting my articles to the major article directories, I think I have a pretty good tactic, but I still haven't seen any traffic from it. Is article submission the way to go, or have you guys found something else out to generate traffic?

It takes a while. If you use *************, they monitor the traffic for you and will tell you in your account how many times the link in your article has been clicked.
I did this for a while. I didn't have that many articles, but I got about 50 people in a couple months that I wouldn't have had otherwise. I also used Yahoo! Answers for a couple months and received a lot of traffic from there. They have since changed their rules, and users are no longer allowed to put in a personal link. You can only put in links pertaining to the question.
However, if you're creative, you will answer only questions that pertain to the site you are trying to point traffic to and then use it as your resource link.
There are many ways to bring traffic that won't cost you a cent if you think outside of the box a little. Try some widgets...there are several sites that have tradeable widgets where you allow someone's widget to appear on your site usually for 24 hours. In turn, your widget advertising your site and/or service appears on another website.
Entrecard.com (http://entrecard.com) is big for this, and when I was blogging regularly, most of my traffic came from there. I think Entrecard is mainly for bloggers, but I've seen websites with it, and bloggers ALWAYS need designers for logos, headers, and banners. Check it out, it might really give you the boost you are looking for. Best of luck.:D
