ppl buy office supplies from us. a prob we have is buyer changes dunno where they get there stuff and goes elsewhere. so we like for them to 'hear' from us every 3mths or so. check on supplies yadda yadda.

figured maybe run a few sales in it.. (which we never do) and just have a fun/friendly HTML newsletter..

what is there to think about? you should be polling your clients. they'll have to subscribe to it, and then it's not spam. the worst thing that would happen is you annoy clients and lose business. the 2nd worst thing is that you spend time and money on the mailing and nobody wants it or people unsubscribe.

see what your clients are into, then give 'er.

I would personally rather get an email than a phone call for something like this. That way I could look it over when it was convenient, rather than when I was in the middle of something else. Just my 2¢

Yeah Morea.. thats what I was thinking..

I was asking because i figured yall would think.. hmm how would i feel about it.. then post opinions. i asked how ppl thought ppl respond to e-newsletters because ya's do graphic design, some also do web design, and i figuureedd yall were a good place to ask?

and yeah i am gonna ask my customers.. wanted to get a general reaction 1st before bothering them.

what unk said, ask your clients. I personally like e-newsletetrs cause I get so much junk mail in the box here at the office that I look past alot of stuff.

but you won't be 'bothering' them. unless you approach them that way. you'll be 'letting them control their interaction with your company, to make their experience more convenient'.

or some such bs.

I do this for clients, now, an opt-in eNewsletter. Works well, I have people email me back for days after a new one comes out, asking questions they didn't know they had.

However, I'd also look at that spedific problem from a more traditional advertising perspective; if you have a company whose buyer 'disappears', you need something obvious and immediate to have in front of the new person. Usually, that's a business card or, better yet, a Rolodex card, something flashy and obvious. Or a postcard, which they can stick on their cubicle walls, and which they'll leave for the next person (or take with them to the new company, even better). Try to get these items to multiple people in the company. Coupled with regular newsletters, it's a very effective approach. Just make sure people can opt-OUT of the newsletter, so they feel empowered. ;)

I'm a computer systems consultant and technician, but my business is localized to West Michigan.
