Hi folks,
I'm Kris! I live in Australia and have recently started studying Graphic Design. A couple of years ago, my job expanded into doing graphics and advertising, and after a couple years of making sigs for online gamers, decided to go back to college for some qualifications. I'm having a blast (even if I can't draw to save my life ;)) and love the course. Still have at least 2 years to go.
Love what I've seen here so far. Hope I've found a good resource to learn new techniques and be inspired :D

ooh, bacon welcome! You're lucky!

Welcome aboard, Kristine. I think that the ability to draw - at least well enough to make thumbnail sketches - will help you immensely as a designer. It teaches you concepts that you need to understand even when creating digital art, l like lighting and shadows and things like that.
You might want to check your local library for this book: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (http://www.drawright.com/) by Betty Edwards to help get you started. Drawing is a skill like any other and can be learned, but first you need to stop telling yourself that you *can't* do it. :)
Good luck in your studies, and welcome to the forum.

Sorry, that's my last lame Crocodile Dundee reference today. I promise. You poor Australians really must hate those movies. :D

Welcome!
Sydney is the only place in Australia I've ever been to. Twice in fact.

teehee... isn't New Zealand closer to Sydney than Perth? ;)
I could spend about 3 months in New Zealand just taking photos. Would love to pop over there for a while :D

Totally. I'm pretty sure it's cheaper for you to fly to NZ than it is for you to fly to Perth.
