New to design- Repeats? Best Application to Use?

Wondering the best program to use to design wallpaper layout. Wanting to take a design from Illustrator or PS and repeat w/ specific distances- Should I use Quark or something from CS?

My guess that most pro wallpaper designers use Adobe Illustrator (in conjunction with Pshop for best raster support). There are some specific fabric design software packages and plugins available. I would think that the two design tasks are very closely related.

Use Illustrator or CorelDraw. I use illustrator for textile design repeats. (use object - transform command for repeat placement)
