In your day-by-day work involving Computer Graphics, what are your favorite software's features?

It doesn't matter which program you are used to work with (and you don't need even mention program's name). The point here is about what is really important to you inside the software ... that tools you can't work without.

Supose you can choose at most 3 tools (filter/effect/transformation/composition/etc). If they are not obvius by name, you can also give a little explanation about what each tool you like does.

I work in prepress so Step and Repeat in Indesign has got to be one of the features that I use most.

Place is also a big one for me. To place client's files into a layout.

Ink manager and Separations Preview are also things I couldn't live without.

I love being to press the keys on my keyboard and seeing the same characters show up on the screen. I never get tired of that.

I only regret that InDesign doesn't have a Lens Flare filter.

Yeah.... i guess the bashing could start with me. I just attempted loading windows on a separate partition on my mac and completely screwed it all up.

I somehow managed to wipe my whole hard drive and am now unable to even start my mac. I fail at life, thank god for external hard drives. I'm going to the apple store tomorrow *cries*.

Yeah, it was weird, I had 2 partitions set up in Bootcamp, but when I popped in the windows disc, it only showed up with one. I canceled out and ejected the disc and when I restarted it opened to a white screen and nothing else shows up..... I think it might have registered me as trying to load it on the main HDD wiping it.

Definately going to read up more on it when I try again, or ask in-depth the guys at the apple store what im actually supposed to do.

In light of Random's experience and several of my own my favorite software tool is undo.

hey random,

how did it go? did you try putting your leopard or mac install disc in and holding the C key down on a reboot? you could boot from the disc then, run disk utility and see if your drive shows up. if so, it could have just been deselected as a startup volume.

or it could be hosed. i recommended installing BC and XP on a separate drive, for just this reason. you're not the only one who's had an issue.

*sorry to highjack the thread*

I love how my computer makes a camera click sound when I do a screen shot.

I like the fun 'puff' noise icons make when you drag them out of the Mac dock onto the desktop. :D

I also like the delete key. Don't get to use that often enough though.
