Hi everyone! I'm a recent grad freelancing, currently working with a candle manufacturing company to produce a label for their candles. They are asking that I put a universal barcode on it so the label will scan. Anyone know if its something I can create or if its found somewhere specific?? Any ideas/tips would help! and make my paycheck appear faster :)
thank you!

Every barcode is different per the product it is for. Talk to the printer, they should be able to send one over to you for an FPO.

So here's the kicker...its a Mexican company, but the candles are manufactured in China. I do have a Spanish speaking middle man helping to keep the communication open with them but to get a hold of the Chinese Company that will be printing these, is going to be difficult.

If they're paying you hourly and they want to reimburse you for the time it will take to track that sucker down then have at it! "Put me on hold, you say? Why that would be fine!" :D
Otherwise it's their responsibility to get the barcode for you. I'd put a placeholder in and be done with it for now.

I work at a gift card printing shop and the most common barcode we encounter is CODE 39. To be sure you will have to contact the vendor who sold your company the POS software though.

Just make sure that your placeholder will in no way get mistaken for the real thing and go to print!
